"5am is when I'm usually having my coffee, on work days. I get in to the office around 6-6:30, so I'm up by 4:30."
You're in work at 6-6.30am? I ain't even out of bed by then!

Same with most of my co-workers, which is one of the manay advantages of getting in early.
But yeah, my boss is pretty cool about flex time, as long as work is done, so I'm typically in from 6-6:30 till 3:30 instead of 8:30 till 5:30-6. I miss the brunt of rish hour each way, almost always get a seat on the train, and have a solid two hours of peace and quiet in the mornings to plow though work before people start pestering me.
Rather than muck about in shops (unless there's some funky foodie or houseware type place), I think I'll head right home and just treat myself to a PS2 game I saw on eBay (Godzilla: Save the Earth).

ah, sort of similar reasoning then - I get to miss the rush hour as well both ways and get some quiet time later on after I've had a chance to resolve any issues or finer points with people during the day.
"Godzilla: Save the Earth"
That sounds like it should be, um, erm, 'good'?

I've heard it's decent enough. I'm not a real hardcore gamer- I'm a bit lacking in motor skills - but I am a fan of Godzilla and his fellow kaiju baddies.

OK, that's done.
Jaysus, it hurt like HELL.
There was a moment of entertainment, though. Without divulging personal details... some of you know, but let's just say my beloved K is possessed of a name that is also commonly attributed to the fairer sex.
As a new patient, I had to fill out some demographic forms, some consent forms, provide insurance info, etc. One of the sections is for emergency contact info. I always use K as my emergency contact, as I've given him Power of Attorney in regards to my medical care (and my finances should I become incapacitated).
So, anyhoo... I went into the exam room and the doctor introduced herself and talked to me a bit, then she went out to speak with the nurse and allow me to get myself ready for the thing. When she came back in, she looked quite perplexed. She asked me if I was looking for cycle control, or for contraception. I replied that contraception was my primary objective; cycle control would be an added bonus. She looked even more confused, shuffled through my file, and then said "Ooooooooooooookay... we thought you were gay; are you bi?".
I did my cock-one-eyebrow thing, thought for a second, and said
"Oooooh, no. K is a MAN".
The doctor was most amused- the nurse was mortified about her mistake. I thought it was pretty hilarious. K's had to clarify his gender before, when dealing with someone who's never met him.

Glad it is all sorted though.

Yes, Mala has met us both so she can vouch for me.
I'm glad there was a bit of a humorous moment, since doctor appointments, girly ones in particular, can be so awkward anyway.
All's well, though. Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes, y'all.

Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted Mar 6, 2009
That reminds me. I'm probably at the age when I need someone to stick a finger up my bottom.

I'm amazed by how many people just flat out refuse to see a doctor for any sort of routine checkup (and cost of service not the reason). Sure, certain things are really unpleasant. But I know I prefer a few minutes of uncomfortable-unpleasant to a more serious unpleasant.

Well, unless you go to any of the physicians Mala has been to see. In that case, the whole process seems more painful than actual illness.
