Good on the owed funds.
Still think you have a legit complaint if there are any more problems.

for kind remarks on cheeseboxes.
Just whizzing in, currently working online on MSN with Ollie trying to sell designer barns and chateaux in france, meanwhile Viking dozes and RK has retired to the freezer on the top floor, taking manic kitten with him, thank the lord.
Viking and me returned this morning to find Yoda and Mooon had somehow plotted to open the fridge overnight and gorged on bacon and lumps of dead. Consequently they have been severely hissed at and deprived of normal rations of food.
A "bouchon" ie cork, has been employed to keep them out. This house now boasts a whole tin of bouchons, which are used for multitudinous purposes. We are now the "Maison du Bouchon"
Just checking frog squeak correction of that with Ollie, meanwhile he checks "proposition" is OK in Inglish. This is a bizarre house i was told today...i didn't disagree. Bizarre, but usually quite good fun.

Hi, just whizzing through myself. Had a nice, warm bath with some lovely herb-infused sea salts I bought yesterday (lavender, valerian, and other good stuff) and am reading the Godzilla book K picked out for me. And I've just noticed how late it's gotten: it's nearly 9:30 and definitely time for reading in bed.

EEEEK!
Watch it with Valerian, i am currently reading a book, (er...in our reading room, otherwise known as the toilet) about herbs and it says this about valerian:
"Renowned herbal sedative....Fetid smell whichs find attractive and it sends them into a frenzy.A tea made from the dried roots is taken to relieve tense headaches and to calm the nerves and if drunk an hour before going to bed will induce peaceful sleep. Although a soothing herb it should not be taken over long periods or in large doses because it produces pains in the head"
Hmm, all sounds a bit contradictory, and certainly keep it out of Herman's reach, frenzied cats definitely produce headaches.

Thanks for the advice about prolonged use of valerian. And definitely regarding its effects on cats. Herman doesn't need any more reason to spazz out and attack.
Incidentally, I've read up on Herman's condition. It's called cerebellar hypoplasia, and here's some info: http://www.petpeoplesplace.com/Care/Cats/004/06f.htm. It's found in kittens born to mothers who have been exposed to distemper. And the reason Herman claws people up so badly is because he can't balance or climb well without using his claws, so they're never trimmed.

What a damn good article!
Please pass it on to Mort, she would be very interested i am sure.
And also stick it on De Myelin Nation, and Eye Say, so many comparisons with human disbility stuff and how to handle this without compromising the dignity of the individual involved, who at the end of the day, can do very little to help themselves, yet may well remain aware, cruelly, of their loss of "normal" function.
Love to you and Herman, may his bum stay clean for your sake and his. Even "normal cats" can have probs, today me and RK cleaned up after Yoda had a very non-zen ca-ca!!!!

I'm glad the article was good and informative. I may post it to De Myelin Nation, that sounds like an excellent idea.
Herman's been doing okay with the pooping lately. When he moves in, I may invest in either a covered litter box or one with deep sides and a low entrance. It might help him having something to lean on besides a table leg. He does all right, the sweet little guy. And he surely can ham it up: sometimes when he stumbles, he flops down and starts licking his paws, as if to say "yeah, I meant to do that". It's only worrisome when he falls off the bed and lands on his chin- he knocked out a tooth that way this past summer.

Oh, he does all right. And he's got the hang of milking it for sympathy. He's too loveable and cute and affectionate not to get by just fine. But it is true what Terri says, to watch him struggle and them get all defensive or upset when we try to help him out. Sometimes, when he's trying to climb into bed, he hangs by his claws for dear life, and I reach down and scoop him up. It always guarantees me a quality snuggle. But if he falls and we try to pick him up, the indignation is perfectly clear. Almost like a person, in that respect. It's good practice in compassion (and the fact that his daddy *is* such a caring, compassionate person is just one of the reasons I love him so much).

Incidentally, K is at a job interview as I type. He's got a temp position lined up which starts Monday, but it's not a very long-term position, and I don't think it pays as well as he really needs. But, it's something to keep the bills paid in the meantime and it will prevent him from going stir crazy sitting home on unemployment, which he dislikes as much as I do.
I spoke to my boss yesterday about the salary discrepancy. He's adjusted my pay rate in the system, and my check tomorrow will be correct. He's also said he will pay me the difference between what I've been paid and should have been thus far- he owes me $112, almost a day's pay! I guess it does pay to squeak up, sometimes.

All sounds very good PC! Well done at standing up for yourself and double well done at getting results.
Incidentally I have just watched the ER with Ray Liotta and I am crying my eyes out.

I missed Ray Liotta. He wasn't on last Monday's episode, was he?
I'm tired and grouchy at the moment. Wednesday, got up at 5pm and flew to Southampton. Drove to a meeting. Left at 5pm and drove back...getting totally lost. Visited a friend near the airport for a cup of tea. Now...I was alerady checked in, and there was a big red sticker on my boarding card telling me to be at the gate 15 mins before departure. I got there 25 mins before...and they'd closed the flight! What theyb really meant was 15 mins before the *boarding* time!!!!. Now it was 8.30pm, and I had to spend another 45 mins phoning round for hotels. Then I got lost for an hour trying to find the one I'd booked into. And I didn't have my medication with me, and venlafaxine withdrwawal kept me awake with powerful, disturbing dreams. And I had to get up at 6 so I could get back to the airport and sort my return flight. Got in at noon and phoned my boss...who was in a panic about a bit of work she's f---ed up on and wanted my help to fix.
Tonight's plans: Wine. 'Friday Food'. TV. Glenmorangie sherry-aged. Vegetation. Falling comatose on the couch somewhere in the middle of Newsnight Review.

The first showing of that episode was last night on E4, it is repeated next week on C4 though.

I assume you all are speaking about ER the TV show? I don't watch TV any more, except for an occasional episode of South Park. It would have been on last night, but I think the UK is a season behind us.
Sorry to hear your trip was such a nightmare, Edward. Traveling is bad enough when things go well, especially when it's for work.
Speaking of work, K found a want ad for an administrative assistant (my line of work) at the NAVS- the National Anti-Vivsection Society. THAT is right up my alley! I'm going to email my resume under a nice cover letter as soon as I get home!! Keep fingers crossed, maybe I could get a decent job doing something I don't hate.

Well, I've just emailed my resume to the NAVS. I hope that the combination of my strong administrative background and my enthusiastic cover letter will catch their eye. I can't imagine a better or more rewarding job than one with an organization that advocates for innocent animals! As we have touched on over on my "Some People" thread, I can't imagine anything more rewarding than having a paid position doing something that's important to me and would make me happy- something I do anyway as a lifestyle and with my free time. I mentioned in my cover letter that I have been active in petitioning, letter writing campaigns, active anti-animal testing consumerism, and am vegetarian as well.
Maybe it might be possible even still to luck out and have the opportunity to do something that is as rewarding spirtually and emotionally as it is financially, and can accomplish great and vital things at the same time!!
Oh, please, keep fingers crossed that they'll consider me!
********************
And how lucky I am to have a guy in my life who sees a want ad for such a position, while unemployed himself, and sends me the info straight away, thinking "OMG! I *must* get this to [PC], this would be *perfect* for her!"
*********************
So, I've got the next four or five hours to myself, for hotting, drying the rest of my laundry, blasting some tunes at ungodly volume (I'm thinking the Undertones would do), and trying to decide if I can make four cigarettes last till K comes to collect me, or if I should go out and get some.
Sunday is K's grandfather's birthday, so we're going down to Northwestern Indiana for some family stuff. After bowling, of course. Tomorrow it's a trip to the bank and I don't know what all else, maybe a DVD with the roomies and a visit to the video store to see if they have "Noi" (see Edward's Film Club thread).
Sorry for blabbering so much about nothing of importance. I'm just feeling very enthusiastic and energetic this evening! This probably means I'll be asleep in two hours.

All of life is just practice for more, might as well look for a new practice! Good Luck on this!
So glad to hear K is all for it too
He's defintely a keeper!
You cannot wipe the grin off my face while I'm reading good news, acts of courage, imagination to investigate more satisfacttion in your own unique life as you are doing now PC. Quite a bit of that has been happening around your h2 circle of friends
