I think the term is 'forced eccentricity'. The most boring people in the world are those who say,
"I'm mad, me! "
(I, on the other hand, insist that I'm perfectly normal. But other people seem to think I'm odd.)

Don't hold back, Ivan!
You're perfectly normal as far as I can tell, Edward. You're one of the normalest people I know.

I'm really very relieved, though, to know it's not just me over-reacting.

PC, write what you feel like writing. Write the sort of Entry you'd like to read. If the subject matter fills you with joy, try to make that come across; if it's painful, touch us; if it's a fun and quirky subject, make it fun and quirky. What we want is something you've written because it's what you want to write, not something you've written because it's what you think we want to read.

Thanks for that, Skanky. I appreciate everyone's input.
I'd mentioned to Bel on her journal earlier today that one of the things I enjoy most about her entries- and this applies to several people, including Fizzy, Skanky, Edward, Bel, as well as people I rarely really have a chance to "speak" with (Galaxy Babe and Gnomon, for example). Some people are *so* very enjoyable to read because they use a clear and concise "voice", conveying all of the pertinent information while obviously enjoying themselves. I love reading entries that are interesting and informative but which the authors clearly had fun researching and writing. Entries that make me want to run right out and try something new, learn something more, or go right into the kitchen and Try Cooking That. If you know what I mean?

As I said to you in my journal, I whole-heartedly agree with your sentiment. And that's one of the reason that I think there's a place for all sorts of entries in the guide. Even if I myself may not be interested in a subject, others may enjoy it very much.
