Blood, Sweat and Tears
Posted May 31, 2002
The Perth magazine - finally finished!
Blood - The papercuts I got making up the proofs, and chewing the inside of my mouth and lip to pieces.
Sweat - Trying to get it finished on time and avoid the wrath of 'da boss. And the sun shining in the office all day and me not being able to get out in it.
Tears - Was in floods of them last night. And nearly today when I realised that I was going to have to relay one section again from scratch.
But now it's finished! YAY
I'm off til Tuesday! and I've got next Friday off for 'Gaun up the Mair' (I'll explain this eventually.)

Wow

Can't believe today. I'm so chilled out for a stressed person.
The magazine I'm working on is late. There was a computer virus that wiped out our system for a week and a half, and we're late. Que sera. If my boss was here I'd be yanking out my black hair in clumps, but I'm smiling here as I try to work out the layout.
My god! I'm at work, and I'm CALM!!! This is a first.

Typical work day
Posted May 24, 2002
After the horrible day at work yesterday, we have two admin staff ready to leave. That will make 17 or 18 since last year. Personally, the stress began to get to me yesterday. After spending six hours going mad overr one single advertisement, and phoning three or four different people, all who claimed to be senior, I finally established that the ad was to run as is. Cur my boss entering and dictating to me to change it - and taking the changes over the phone. Expressly against the wisheds of our direct client.
He also had a go at one of our admin staff over the website, and left her in tears of rage and frustration. He then phone our web maintenence company and told them it was their fault the staff were upset.
Got into my car last night and just went . Couldn't sleep last night, and was in at eight o'clock to do extra work. I must be crackers.

Councils? Pfah.
Posted May 20, 2002
Our local council has, in its infinite wisdom, decided to help claw back its two million overspend (two million!!) by cutting essential services. Not content with closing our public tennis courts, selling common ground to a local ‘entrepreneur’, making roads maintenance staff redundant, trying to sell the lovliest local park in town to a supermarket chain, and introducing pay parking, it has also decided to sell of the primary school’s playing fields for housing developments, abolish free transport for the mentally disbled, and abolish funding for the schools that deal with mentally and physically disabled children. All this while awarding our fat-cat councillors more free lunches and a pay rise. It’s enough to make you sick.
