h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Generally I am doing OK - life on the whole is good - way too much to do but luckily only some of it work related!

I am enjoying the job apart from the staying away bit. We are really busy at the theatre - the last two weeks I have been helpin g backstage when I can with a production of Stephen King's Misery. A great play - the cast were excellent and it was a technically challanging play with lots of special effecets. I am about to start stage managing the next play - on in 6 weeks time - Pygmalion. Am now starting to panic about that one! OJ is in it and is already rehearsing for another play in which he has two parts - lots of line to learn for him then - what usually happens is I help him learn them but end up knowing them as well as he does!

This morning however I am not so good. Last night OJ's father was taken into hospital. OJ went over there and I am pleased he did, about 2am they were sent home from the hospital. I went to bed then but did not sleep much. OJ's dad died at about 5 this morning. I feel very sad and helpless. OJ stayed at him Mum's last night and is still there now - I could use a hug and I am sure he could too. Everything is rather up in the air at the moment and I feel somewhat numb - but I know you know all about that.

OK I guess

OJ has been wonderful and supported hin Mum really well.

I feel better now that I have seen them all

We are all shattered - no one really slept last night and I am just hoping thay OJ and his Mum both sleep well tonight but I appreciate that may be a bit much to hope for.

Tomorrow we are going back over to OJ's Mum to help her with all that stuff that needs doing

Today we have been to the hospital, been to the registra and registered the death and paid our first visit to the funeral directors - exhausing but OJ's Mum wanted to get on with it so I figure its up to us to support her.

Tomorrow we need to agree funeral arrangements (or at least date and time) and start going through the practical arrangements for life and all the bodies and companies who need to know Another long one but I think everyone will feel better once they know what needs doing and that they have made a start on it.

*sigh* it's a long hard slog I'm sorry to say

How are you bearing up?

We are all doing OK thanks = all things considered. I am really proud of OJ and how much he has been helping his Mum.

She is also doing OK. The amount of support she is getting pays much testiment to OJ's Dad - as your quote says the measure of a man is the quality of his friends - he was one heck of a guy and thats obviously not just my opinion!

We are both going back to work tomorrow (although I am working from home so if OJ's Mum decides she wants some more support I am around)

The funeral is all arranged for next week and while we dont know the time OJ's Mum has chosen the clothes her husband will wear (with some drama / upset over forgotten socks) as well as the flowers for the coffin.

I have actually found today harder - dont know why but I have felt much sadder - possibly because I have not been so worried about the others does that sound daft?

Actually we had a really nice bottle of Wolfblas white wine and now we are on the chilled white port
