I've some questions for you. Do you happen to know anything about the earlier governemental statis of countries? For instance, Greece. Was it ever a democracy at one time? I can prolly figure out about what it is now and why, but do you happen to know any countries that were democracies and now are of a different governmental statis? (ie. communism, socialism, police states, etc.) If ya can help, and even if you can't. Just seems like something ya might know...

That came out of nowhere!
Good job I saw that one: I've left one there for about six weeks!
I think the Greek Ancient Government was a democracy of some kind...or something to do with a council of elders?
When do you need this for? I can tell you more definite things if you want? Russia was a monarchy then communist...now [corruptly: allegedly!] democratic. China was a democracy [not sure!] and was communist, but is now communist with capitalist bits in...Canada was a monarchy [through UK's conquest] and is now a democracy
What exactly do you want to know

aww well it's for a research paper I have to write. I'm not exactly sure, but this was my proposal:
The Change of Democracy into Different Governmental States
I chose this topic because America currently is more of a police state than a Democracy, and I’m sure this change has occurred in other countries throughout time. I believe that perhaps we can find some warning in how much power to give any branch of the government, be it military or other, by further researching this topic, so as not to throw away Democracy altogether, and so I intend to do so. I know very little about the topic, except the meanings of many governmental statuses (i.e. police states, monarchies, etc.). I would like to learn about countries that formerly had a democratic government, but then changed into other forms. I would also like to learn about the involvement of military in these changes, and why these changes occurred in different countries. I was planning on perhaps using The 2002 Statesman’s Yearbook: The Politics, Cultures, and Economics of the World, Suddenly by George F. Will, The Myth of Democracy by Tage Lindbom, Freedom and Culture by John Dewey, Encarta Encyclopedia, and some world-wide websites to research my project in, though I am not sure that all of these hold the information I need.
Aww well. I'll get there eventually. I may have to change my topic to changes of government due to military...
Feel free to comment or tell me I'm stupid-I do it all the time

Keep with the original project! Keep with the original project!
If you want to learn more about America and it's government, read the 'Silent Takeover: Global Capitalism and the death of Democracy' by Noreena Hertz. I'm reading it on and off now, and is ok to read [some of the terms are a bit ] but it goes on about how, over the last 20 odd years, developed countries have changed their power structure: power is now locked in the economic rather than the political, and corporations are the ones with the power: not political parties...
...what do you think?
Hey FwT
Quille the cynic...TC Posted Oct 21, 2002
I WILL try...
Well it is certainly true. Always has been in America, not sure about other places though.
I'm not sure if I have enough time to read it...I have to read Hunt For Red October by November 13 on my own time, Animal Farm and a couple of other books. Not to mention what I want to read and all of the work I have to do and the play I'm in. and the fact that I can now only speak spanish in my spanish class and get reductions for English ... sorry for complaining, but I feel like it as I haven't really eaten anything today, I only got 5 hours of sleep, and I had to get up at 6 AM...complaining again
hehe It's HOMECOMING WEEK YAY!
Yes, I will consider the book and thoughts and perhaps can find a way to work them into my paper?

'twas fabulous. Got great food, got to watch a concert and be in a mosh pit, watch a drama home video that was a spoof of the movies Scooby Doo and Signs. I also got to run around crazily and do a whole bunch of fun stuff and then sit in the cafeteria and watch one of my not-so-good friends play a eukalali that he found all broken up in the art room like a guitar. Rather great day all around .
Anything interesting happen there?
Still nothing?
