Hello there Marvin
Welcome to H2G2
My name's 3 Of 8, and I'll be your ACE (Assistant Community Editor)for the journey... If you look to the left you can see your most recent conversations, if you look to the right you can see your username in a lovely blue/green box.
If you don't like the view, change to Goo by clicking your preference button situated on the orange bar above.
You will notice that there are no exits, you are now asked to remain seated at your computer, and not log out for the remainder of the journey.
If you click on this little fellow, you will be magically transported to his home, to meet his friends, and find out more about them, and how to include them in your conversations.
If you have any questions (preferably really easy to answer ones )
Please feel free to ask by hitting the reply button below...
Have fun and enjoy!

Good evening Marvin
You're very welcome.
The best thing to do here is to jump right in.
<./>askh2g2</.> Here is where the busiest conversations are going on. There is surely something here that you would want to contribute to Feel free to butt in if there's something that you want to say.
You can just read through the backlog if you don't feel like posting a message, there are some great conversation threads there. One of my faves, is the 'Tell us a joke' one. There is a lot of backlog on it, but some of the jokes are really funny
If you want any help, have any questions, or you just want to natter, let me know, and I'll get straight back to you
Have fun and enjoy!

Actually... It would probably be better to go to the front page, and look near the bottom left for the Ask the h2g2 community link.. You can see more of the conversation list from there
Have fun and enjoy!

Well you're not alone on here, there are lots of fellow US researchers. Of course you use a lot of British words, you speak English don't you
Where about in the US are you<?> I think there's a US researchers club on here... I'll have a look for you. There are lots of clubs on here... For example. You can claim your official Keeper title, is there something that you think you should be the keeper of<?> Well as long as nobody else has claimed it, you could be the official keeper of it There's the Procrastinator's Society, but not many people have got around to joining it yet. There is also a campaign to rename Thursday 'Thing' to name but a few... I've got a link somewhere for the clubs you can join on here, I'll have a look and get back to you... Obviously it's entirely up to you if you want to 'join' any of these clubs, but most researchers join at least one at some time or other. There's normally lots of chat going on around the various clubs, so it's a they're good places to get chatting.
I'll go check for those links and get back to you.
Have fun and enjoy!

A658208 This will have several US researchers clubs.
It's entirely up to you if you check them out or not... But the links will be there should you want to check them out another time
Have fun and enjoy!

Hello again
I'm no expert on GuideML, but I think it's a little like HTML. If you understand the basics of HTML, then I think GuideML should be a doddle
<./>GuideML-Clinic</.> This will take you to the GuideML clinic, it's where you can go to find out more about GuideML, or to ask questions if you're stuck. I can help you with the basics, but if you was having a problem using certain tags, that I've never used, the chances are I would ask a Guru, to help you out.
To be a Guru, you do need to have a good understanding of GuideML, and various other technical details for the site. Guru That will take you to the Guru's page, where you can learn more about becomming one, and about what they actually do. I would however suggest that you leave volunteering to become one, until you're a little more familiar with the workings of the site. If you feel that you know enough, and that you can answer questions about GuideML, (which is what they're asked about most frequently I think), then by all means give it a go
I hope that helps
Please feel free to ask me any questions, I'll try my best, if I can't help you, I'll find you someone who can
Have fun and enjoy!

Thank you very much. I have a reasonable understanding of markup languages. I posted a volunteer conversation. Do u know how long it takes for them to respond?

Hi
You're very welcome
I couldn't really tell you. I'm not sure who it is that deals with new volunteers. You shouldn't have to wait too long for a response though. The people here are normally pretty alert So hopefully someone will get back to you soon.
Have fun and enjoy!
