Matt Berry
Introduction and Abstract
Hello, and thank you for your interest.
The very fact that you are here shows that you and I have something in common, a shared interest: ideas. Like you I love to learn; I love to grasp new ideas, to ponder upon them, toy with them, disect them and destroy them, to accept them and reject them. I love ideas with a passion, but what I love more is the language with which I express them. Words are the very foundation of society, they bring us all together, they are something we all really share. I hope you enjoy some of the words I have placed here for your pleasure.
My notes and texts, jottings and scriblings will naturally say something of myself. Please be careful with them and read them in context. I often discuss issues which people are passionate about; it is all too easy to feel that one's toes have been trodden on when one's beliefs are not upheld, we have all felt it. So try to remember, when you read my entries, as with every entry, that they are just an opinion, not concrete, liable to change and modification, ammendment and rejection.
About Me
I am part scientist, part computer programmer, part philosopher and part scribe, though I have no pretensions of excellence in any! I am reading Physics and Philosopy at the University of Nottingham, England. Before I commenced my studies I was a professional internet developer, a useful skill which I continue now as a freelance contract developer.
The future
What does the future hold for us all, I wonder? What does it hold for me? I have no idea what I am to do, the choices are multivarious. Do I write, teach, program, hack, consult, invest? No-one knows, least of all me. So maybe I'll have to have a little piece of each, a taster, a titbit, we will just have to wait and see. If there is one thing that I have learned from life, it is this: it will probably be the last thing I would have imagined!
