It should open up another window, with a list of who's online at this very moment, I'm surprised it didn't work. Has it left a minimised button at the foot of your screen?

No - only a few seconds.

I can't understand that - unless you've got loads of applications eating up your computer's memory. If so shut one or two down if you can.
