Hi, it sounds like we might have some stuff in common. i know what you mean about teaching. I ran screaming too and also became a librarian. Kinda weird!

Hi there. From what you've said it sounds like we have got a fair bit in comon.

I trianed to teach upper primary, finished my BA and then got a job in a nice leafy little primary school in Oxforshire. The parents and the sheere volume of paper work attached to my class (where over half had statements, and one spoke next to no English) very quickly took their toll and I left teaching at the end of the Autumn term.

Mind you I haven't really looked back in the long run. If I hadn't have left teaching and started work in an FE college library I would never have found hootoo; and if I'd never found hootoo I wouldn't have met my fiance. smiley - biggrin

I can't really call myself a Librarian. I started here as a Library Assistant when I moved from Oxfordshire back home so that I had some money coming in.

The campus is the smallest one in the college, is very friendly and I just ended up staying. Due to my boss leaving and never being replaced I'm now the only member of library staff in the library and I now do everything.smiley - smiley Great fun, but knackering at the beginning of term.

What made you leave teaching? The kids or the pure hell of the paper work and no life outside the classroom?
