As regular followers of my journal will probably know every time my car goes near a garage its always managed to get theere in a dramatic and often expensive way, and today it was MOT time again. And yet again it's been a dissasterous day for Odo's car. She's failed, and rather expensivly to. Ho hum..... Now shall I repare her? Shall I get a new set of second hand wheels? Perhaps I should look at trying to find a new small (cheap) car that has several years warrenty on it.....

MOTs . There is no way in Hell our car is going to pass its next one. There are so many things wrong with it, in fact I need to spend half this weekend taking it apart on the pub car park just to make it semi-safe.

I hate and loathe all garages, garage technicians and cars. I walk in and they see an easy way to a quick profit.

However this year the MOT has actually been fairly reasonable. Luckily the second technician had returned from his holiday on the Wednesday morning and had a quick gander at the car. It turned out that some air flow/filter tube had become detached and had split which once trimmed and plugged in again solved the major problem. Thankfully.

MOTs is the only time my car goes near a garage. Apart from that the pub car park (no way am I working on our road), a Haynes manual and my toolbox will suffice.

That's fine if you know a bit about cars.

every time I see the word MOT it makes think of a Dutch phrase: "mot hebben"
translation: having brawl with some one.

It fits nicely with the subject, wich is people having MOT with their cars.

Precisly Ralph - I know where the oil, water and petrol is supposed to go and I check my tyres fairly regularly but apart from that the car just goes. If it starts making a 'funny noise' it's ok as long as nothing is dropping out of it and we're not leaving a trail of sparks behind us.

I have a friend who is very good at adivec and engines, just a shame he lives 35 miles away from us now. The advice is still good, but there's not a lot I can do about it.

It's kinda hard to drive over to his place if the car falls apart, I suppose.
