Cars!!!!

I've decided that they're nothing but trouble!

I set off back to the parents today for a visit and Sunday lunch. I've actually left in plenty of time, the roads are clear and all is going well.

That is until I get onto the M4!!!!! There I am happily chugging along when all of a sudden there’s a 'twang' and I loose all power and acceleration. It happens in the worst possible place, just were there are loads of junctions and no hard shoulder.

Anyway I eventually role to a stop. The AA chap is very sympathetic and tells me that the drive belt has snapped, (fingers crossed it hasn't taken half the engine with it).

So much for lunch!!!

With all the trouble my cars have caused in the last few months I think I should just give up and get myself a bike.

Odo, am disappointed, had you down as the sort who would repair it with a bit of old rag or knicker elastic!

by the way, if you really hate being towed you should have a word with the nice AA person and ask them to let you sit in the cab and put the car on the back of the truck. Much easier

I had the wrong sort of bra on to be able to do anything practical with it.

I'll have to confess to knowing very little about car engines.

It was the wrong sort of truck for the AA chap to jack the wheels up and let me ride in the cab. He didn't look too chuffed at the idea of having to tow me along a very busy stetch of the M4.

Pheloxi - it is a new car, and it hadn't long been serviced before I got it. It was just one of those things I suppose.

When ever you buy a new car - get the cam belt changed!!!! We had that happen to us - fortunately, my uncle is an MOT and car mechanic, so instead of it costing us a new engine, or maniac charges for a garage, it cost us about £70 for my uncle to fix it. Ain't he a good uncle

It must be great to have an uncle like that.

The car had been serviced when I got it so I thought things would be ok until the next MOT.

It's chucking it down here and I'm soaking.

It's taken an hour and a half to travel 15 miles, and I've walked three and a half of those.

And the government wonder why people won't use public transport.

The worst thing is that I've got to do the whole journey in reverse tonight.

I suppose the exercise is good for me.
