I cannot believe it! My Grandpa was Grand Marshall of the Pumpkin Parade one time many, many years ago! I have a picture of him driving his tractor with his hat cocked at a rakish angle while pulling the lead float. Morton, Morton! I just cannot believe it. Woodford county or Tazwell County? All of my family is from the surrounding area. Eureka and Peoria are close by, correct? Ah memories, memories. My Father is buried in Eureka: he died young many years ago. Mom went to school with Ronald Reagan: he ran 90 yards once in the wrong direction to score a touchdown for the opposing team! That's our Dutch.
How far is Washington? Not far if I remember. Sadly, I now live many miles away and haven't even had the chance to visit my Dad's grave for many years.
Please, tell me more about Morton as it is today!
