I know how you feel - that's tzhe reason why I didn't allow any further hamsters after we had buried the last one - it's tearing your heart to see them die, I didn't want to go through that ever again smiley - hug

She had to be put down, her kidneys had failed. Shes lost weight recently but we thought it was just the heat and her age but in the last couple of days shes seemed poorly, her breathing and whatnot..so i made the appoinrmtnt tohave her checked over yesterday for this afternoon. this mrning wwhen she came out for love n i saw that her bottom was dirty i knew it was it n prepared josh as best i could for her not coming backwith us. We brought her body home n have just buried her in the front grass area.

and not moody n bitey like the hamster that put me off them as a kid, she was really really good natured n would go to anyone. she was also so gentle you could offer her the tiniest crumb off your fingerr n shed get it without her teth as much as brushing you smiley - loveblush

The ratties have been a ittle quiet. As well as being hot I think they know something's not right in the house. Texas will prolly come back to haunt them with invisible bum bites for forever trying to stick their noses in her cage to say hi! smiley - laugh

I'm so sorry to hear about Texas... she was a little cutie! smiley - hug

I thank you for writing an article on the topic of pet loss; so many people don't understand about pets, in general, and losing them in particular.

I've posted permission to use anything you want from my posts on az's Lua thread over there, but I'll repeat it here: be my guest, if you see anything helpful. smiley - smiley

Thanks space cadette n hypatia smiley - hug

I'm actually much better than I thought I'd be, maybe due to my beliefs about death being pagan and maybe because it hasnt sunk in yet, I hope it's the former.

I'm really proud of my little boy, hes only 9 n has been so mature about it.

smiley - hug for you & the little lad; it's actually a very good thing for kiddies of this age to learn about the death stuff through pets, when they are surrounded by caring adults. He will probably ponder about it all & come up with lots of questions.

When i was in Africa, in charge of the School Farm, there was an outbreak of a serious disease which could potentially have passed to humans & there was no choice but to euthanase all the rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice etc. Absolutely heartbreaking. Can you imagine breaking the news to 400 kiddies in morning Assembly?smiley - wah

*sigh* Anyway, thank goodness the ratties are around. Is Lilly feeling better? What did the vet have to say?

So glad it's just MSN playing silly boogers (again!)not me saying something daft when probably drunk & feeling down!

Lilly has seemed fine the last couple of days so we just tok texas up. maybe her bedding was making her sneeze or something? whatever it was it seem to have cleared up on its own.

Josh as been superbrave. He had a bit of a cry and has broken down the once since, but other than that hes been fine.

We had a lovely little hamster called "fluff"

I used to wake him up just so I could see him with his ears held back against his head and his eyes squinting to see who it was rudely waking him up.

He's just sit there in my hand and nod off to sleep again. I miss Fluff the most out of all the pets we've had (and we've had a few too).
