The reason i suggested the George, is that it is:
A: Easy to get to from East Croydon station
B: No music
C: Large Tables (so we can all fit round oone table rather than being split across several)
D: Its cheap 
E: when i've been in there its been full of old men (though there maybe more 15 years olds on friday nights)
The downside is that being a wetherspoons the booze may not be up to hootooer standards. 
Though we could always use it as a meeting up pub and work our ways onto pubs with better once we got everyone.

So that would be all the reasons bar the cheap food that I suggested then?
I thought the booze wasn't too bad at all, and to please my work colleagues there would have to be something 1/2 decent on the pumps! 
There is a distinct lack of pubs in Croydon with what you call decent booze, we could always distill our own and hang around on the corners causing trouble!
