Argentinian Tango
I am a graphic designer and jazz musician, having played piano from the age of 8 years. Art and music have always played a very important part in my life and these skills have served me well in business and in recreation. In business, I am a partner in a design company based in Winchester. I have experience as a tutor in various fields, having taught IT, horse-riding and Argentinian Tango.
Tango Argentino found me by way of my interest in all things latino. I suspect that I was a gaucho in a previous life, which would explain my love of horse-riding and dancing the tango. I have also danced salsa and rock 'n roll before becoming smitten by the tango.
I have lived in Andalucia, where I played in a jazz band and indulged in my love of horse-riding, particularly riding dressage to music. My daughter attended the local village school and now works in Northern Spain as a bilingual HR specialist.
Tango provides me with a way of expressing myself in dance using the same improvisational skills and experience I use in creative art, design and music.
In the dance, the floor becomes an empty canvas, the music a palette of colours from which the dancers paint pictures from the soul using their feet as brushes. Sometimes everything just falls into place - the music, the ambience, the moves and the communication between the dancers - when this happens its like having a three minute love affair!"
I travel frequently to Tango festivals and workshops at home and abroad, and have worked with many of the visiting argentinian maestros in continually seeking to improve my own dance technique and teaching methods.
Steve is partnered in the tango as in life by his wife and soul-mate Debbie.
The most wasted day is that in which you have not danced or laughed.
I would love to hear your thoughts on dance and music. Must go, another deadline to make
