I saw you asking a question in another thread, and thought I'd drop by your Personal Space. Then I saw you haven't been greeted by an ACE yet! I'm here to remedy that!

Welcome to h2g2, Phil! My name is Shea, and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE). We're a group of volunteers that wander around h2g2 welcoming and helping new Researchers. If you want to ask me a question, or need help with anything, just hit the "Reply" button and leave a message, I'll come back in and help you in any way I can!

If you ever want to talk to a Researcher, just click on their name. That will take you to their Personal Space, and you can leave them a message there (like I'm doing now!) by clicking on the 'Discuss this Entry' button.

Most importantly, have fun! You might find yourself meeting some great new friends! I know I have!

Hi again, Phil!

You can't actually "chat" on h2g2 ... it's more of a "message board" place. You can post anywhere you'd like, as you did before. If you want to leave messages for another Researcher, you'll find a "Leave A Message" button on their Personal Space. You can get to any Researcher's Personal Space by clicking on their name. You can just hit the "Reply" button on any message you read if you'd like to talk to the people in any conversation.

To change your user name, click on the "Preferences" button. There will be a box there marked "Nickname". Just get rid of what's there, and type in your new name! Under that is something that says "Skin". There are 3 different skins ... or styles ... to h2g2. You might want to try a different one, and see which one you like best.

Don't give up quite yet, Phil! This place can be a lot of fun ... and very addictive ... trust me!

hello shea im sorry ive not been in touch for a while ive been very busy with decorating so how are you doing shea when you said a while back about 3 different skins wot do they mean?? im still only getting the hang of things in here
ive had a few messages but i cant read them it keeps booting me out ive tried all night any ideas shea?? it keeps saying something about memory? phil :0)

Not a problem! I'm usually around. Take your time!

If you click the "Preferences" button, you'll see under where it says "Nickname", it says "Skin". If you click on that pop-up window, it gives you a choice of different "looks" you can have on h2g2. They're called Alabaster, Classic GOO, and Brunel. Choose one, then click "Update Details". You can then try out that look for a while. Change as often as you want, until you find one you like.

I'm sorry it keeps booting you out. What kind of computer are you using?
