Can you explain to me how you use a digibox to connect to h2g2, and why this will not work with the BBC iD system? I've tried asking JimCracker but he is not good at explaining things.

erm, I can't tell you the tekkie stuff, because I don't understand it myself.

From what I understand, h2g2 currently has a low firewall, which allows digibox users access via an email link.

When h2g2 changes over to BBCiD there will be a higher firewall preventing access via digigbox email link.

I currently have a link for this page (I view it very differently via digibox, ie no graphics) as well as h2g2 link.

it allows me to lurk and read, I only lurk using digibox. I can use 'Search box' on that page to access h2g2

Looking at the URL I assume that page is not a BBCiD page, which is maybe why the link works.

I'll know more when I try to use digibox on Tuesday.

Digibox users are a dying breed, there's not many left, and most have access to PC's as well as digibox. New digiboxes for new Virgin customers/ or replacements no longer have email, so there won't be any new digibox users.

I work with web servers and am familiar with lots of technical stuff on the web. I was hoping that if the digibox was anything to do with my area of expertise, I might be able to figure out a way to get all the digibox users through the new iD system. But this sounds totally different to anything I've encountered, so I'm as much at sea as you are.

Hi Gnomon, just realised Tuesday has been and gone almost twice and I hadn't replied to this.

Just in case you didn't notice what I said in the other thread - I only via Digibox, so the new sign in didn't affect my Digibox use at all.
