I hardly ever use ice, even on hot summer days.

I managed to dig out an ice tray, partner knew where one was, how unusual for the male of the house to know where something is

Now I need a suitable glass. The glass I usually use for Baileys is tiny, no room for ice. I just keep re-filling it. I like it coz it has my name on it. Off to charity shop, see what glasses they have.

I've been avoiding replying here, as I didn't want to sound negative about Baileys.

I started from a bias point of view - a belief that ice waters drinks down.

I got a suitable glass, and ice cubes. Put 4 ice cubes in glass and poured (imitation) Baileys to just covering the ice. (and poured some in my tiny glass, so I didn't have to wait for the ice to start melting before drinking)

Well, it was sort of okay, but I felt I had to drink it quickly, before too much of the ice melted, and watered it down. And because I drank a larger amount than I usually do, in a shorter space of time, I ended up drinking too much, which meant I had none left for Monday evening

So basically the result of my experiment was that Baileys with ice is not for me, as I drink too much at a time, resulting in a bottle not lasting the usual four nights.

Hmmm I could easily drink the bottle in three days, but then I'd have to wait 4 whole days before I opened the next bottle.

I had to put my favourite little Baileys glass with my name engraved on it in the rcycling bin today , it had a big crack in it, no idea how I did that. Got another little glass from charity shop, but it'll never be as special to me as the one i've just had to dump. The Baileys tastes just as nice though.

I noticed Lidl had a second cheaper (£3.99) Irish Cream, so I got a bottle, wish I hadn't bothered.

It's called Maloney's, to me, it's very sweet and syrupy, I've drunk almost the whole bottle in 3 evenings, so I suppose it can't be that bad, but I wouldn't buy it again, unless I was really desperate and couldn't get any my usual cheapie versions.

That's why you need the ice...

That's a shame, Aldi has one which is lovely and an acceptable substitute.

It can't have been that bad if you have drunk that much I wish you hadn't mentioned it as I now have a craving for it after a long hard week

A will have to do instead

I've not been to Aldi for ages, may have to have a reccy before Xmas, although I'll probably buy Baileys (it's my Xmas day tipple while making the Lego models)

But, but, I tried it with ice, and didn't like it.

I agree with you Websailor, Aldi's version is nice, I have a bottle of that every weekend, open it Friday evening, drink the last drop Sunday night ; I just thought I'd try Lidl's second version, back to Aldi's versioin this week.
