At last, a good cliffhanger episode. Definitely a step upwards in most directions, although I think Russell Davies has watched too much Muppets (Pigs! In! Space!) and I could have done without the fart jokes.
Good to see Chris Ecclestone with a bit of gravitas too. Looking forward to the DVD(s).

Well then you've got about 5 hours to exercise the advice given here then - http://www.freeview.co.uk/

I'm not really here Posted Apr 17, 2005
My ten year old did appreciate the fart jokes - otherwise monsters unscary and dull, so no change to the budget there (plus this week's theft is from 'Cocoon').
CE still has that buffoon's grin on his face so I just want to smash it in and Rose is still annoyingly common. But I still sit down every week to watch it...

Unfortunately we've already tried to get Freeview - they've said that we can't have it 'Tis what you get for living in the sticks...

Is this conversation about Doctor Who Part 4, by any chance? The one that was aired yesterday 16-Apr-2005?

B - there's no such thing as too much muppets. Yeah, the fart jokes were a bit much, but what annoyed me was the "next week" bit. Okay, if I had to take a wild guess I'd say our heroes are going to survive the cliffhanger, but showing what they'll be up to next week just spoiled the feeling of danger for me.
Other than that I thought this was a very good episode. Davies script had a couple of nice twists and hasn't plumbed the depths of cliche that episode two ("End of the World" I think it was called) reached.
The one lesson I'm taking away from this series is "beware of glowing blue things".

It is. But the 3rd Part of my Jounal wafflings on the subject.

I worked that out as soon as I noted the absence of the phrase "the stiffs are getting lively again" from this conversation...

Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences Posted Apr 18, 2005
My only complaint was "oh for fxck's sake, an actual proper budget and *that* is the best you can do? A grey Mr. Blobby?".
