Bath, haircut (saw someone from Casualty), here.
I've actually spent most of my day wondering what to do.

Yes.
All the programmers had a bollocking today, if the progress doesn't improve by the end of the week, we're all out of a job.

Yup, and seeing as how the other coders are useless and lazy, and the project manager has turned out to be a coward who didn't backa single one of us up, it's pretty much a given I'll be on the dole very quickly.

You could always try and stab them all in the back somehow? Lodge a complaint of some sort? They can't sack you if you are doing your job and everyone else isn't...surely?

You could always just say "sod it" for the rest of the week and spend all of your work time job hunting and filling in application forms...if they're going to fire you anyway you might as well do something productive in your last week (or take a sicky)

Well, I was actually booking tomorrow off as a holiday at the time I was asked to go through for a chat. The car's in the garage, and I'm at home... job hunting here I come. I hate job hunting.

If you can get your doctor to sign you off with "work related stress" they will be pooping their pants and they wont be able to fire you...even if they do think your incompetant (because you gp says that is *their* fault).
Hubby's company is having trouble atm and they're threatening redundancies left right and centre but him and his mates should be ok...he is internal systems (and has a rather large file of evidence of disability discrimination which they know about) and his mates are all in development...they would be better off sacking a couple of the sales team and the engineers who doss around all day...but I think theyre all talk anyway.
Stupid IT companies with no idea about employment law *mutter grumble mutter*
