The devil made me buy these jeans!

Well, not the devil exactly, but a near relative: my daughter.

I'd promised her that she could accompany me on my next shopping trip and give her sartorial opinion on my purchases. So today became the promised day.smiley - diva

The day itself started off well - blue skies and sunshine, although still very cold (about 8 or 9 degrees). Dai was intending to do a charity bike run, starting at 11 from Carrickfergus Castle, and I went along to lend support and take some video footage (would love to have gone along myself, but other family committments...) Met an old friend and former childminder of mine, so twas lovely to get in contact again. And the sight of 650 bikes zooming off into the sunshine was spectacular indeed.

Back home to pick up the kids: son was due at a rehearsal for a Come and Play thing with the Ulster Orchestra, where amateurs can come along, rehearse a few pieces along with the professionals and then give a concert. He was particularly enthused as he'd be playing percussion alongside his Dad, and had duly been practising like a good'un for weeks.

Daughter and I went shopping - I was pleased that the haul for her included sensible shoes, pink Timberlands and some books, and then we tried on every pair of black trousers and jeans in my size in TKMax. So here I am in the new jeans - I think they're too tight and skinny-fit, she assures me they look fab.smiley - ok

The concert itself was brilliant (although my video camera gave up just before they started playing smiley - sadface). I was so proud of him doing the glock solo in Sleeping Beauty (which apparently earned a round of applause during reheasals), and the conductor even gave them a special "father and son" mention after the Thunder and Lightning polka. Beaming with pride, I was.

So. Perfick Sunday. Now to get back into work mode for tomorrow...

Aww. Nice. (Bet he was glad they didn't make them play "Bolero". )

I really miss seeing my kids perform stuff now their bands have disbanded with everyone at universities all over. But No. 2 is working very hard at classical stuff now, so I hope to see him perhaps in a violin trio or something in the foreseeable future.

Er, no I think you're far too young for such a traumatic experience!

Sunday shopping indeed.smiley - smiley Although there are at least 2 new shopping mall developments underway in downtown Belfast at the minute, and you do have to ask yourself if there are that many shoppers here...
