In brief
I am a British computer consultant exiled in Geneva for the last fourteen years. Miss some of the features of British culture, like BBC documentaries and humour, going down to the pub and having a pint of Bass or going into a decent bookshop where there is more than a handful of titles in English.
On the other hand, we live in an old farmhouse in the Alps at around 900 metres (3000 feet)altitude, so at this time of year (February) we can go skiing on the mountain behind our village. It is a great place for mountain biking, trekking and sailing, with Lake Geneva just nearby. So far be it from me to complain.
I enjoy reading and writing about physics and astronomy, am a fan of the work of Douglas Adams (of course) which is one of the reasons that has brought me to h2g2. At the beginning of 2002 I started to write a weekly newsletter that I distribute to my friends and family back in the UK via email. It has taken on a kind of life of it's own and I have started posting excerpts to get feedback from the alternative writing forum on h2g2.
