Hi there!
I've brought a pot of hunny-and I've brought my bear-Winnie the Pooh. He's not one of those Disney type Poohs-He's more your Ernest Shepard type-but not quite-and he cost a packet for my 2nd birthday...his peers (almost Identical-but not quite) can be seen on TV-in episodes of The Goodies, Sapphire & Steel and Robin's Nest-that's right, I was born in the 70's .
I even managed to get a smaller version of him in a charity shop-a long lost brother...he cost 29p...and the woman in the shop thought he was mine! I must have looked a real dope holding him!
p.s. I asked if they'd make a teddybear smiley-but nuttin's happened yet.

(pssst-don't tell Pooh-but I'm not too keen on hunny!)
well here's the story on Pooh-
so I'm told.
It was my birthday-and I'd decided to go all shy -and hid under the table in the kitchen...so I sat under there in a huff-saying I didn't want any presents-'til my mother held Pooh under the table cloth in front of me-and I grabbed him! hehehe-he's been with me ever since...he's been quite a little globetrotter-from New York to Bournemouth-and even visited me in hospital twice-until we decided he was too precious to risk losing!
re:Paddington-funnily enough last night I watched a few Are you being served-s...and Mr Humphries had his Paddington with him-so last night at 11:30 I was thinking about you!
here-have some biscuits-nicer than hunny!

Mm Interesting, an adict of quality bears at an early age I see.
My first bear, I still have, is made of sheepskin, it now rather old and batterd with only one eye, and verry bald in parts. I shaved it thinking it would grow again. well I was nieve at that age.
To cut a long story short, I grew out of him, but was cared for and cherrished, by my mother, Now I look after it along with Edward, her bear.
Padington does not travel very well, Just cannot see out of the car window, But Edward has traveled well, though not as far as yours.
Padington looks after the rest of the hug.

at the same time I got Pooh, I got a small fairly realistic looking monkey, made from dark brown fur and leather-his 'hair' at the front is kindof loose-so it looks like he's got a combover. he is special too-he's a sort of 'brother' to the bear.
on one of pooh's trips to hospital visiting me I left him down for a second-when I turned round a little boy had a hold of him, and was trying to feed him rice krispies-I was livid! poor kid...
ya know this teddy bears pic-nic is a great idea-everyone should join in! and all round

ah! don't worry-bears will be bears! I always bring enough for everyone to overeat!
oh, and I always bring some for when the bears drop off!

To keep everything together, I read your page about Jeremy Brett.
I saw him one Christmas eve. He was playing Sherlock Holmes on stage, even during the customary curtain calls he stayed in charicator.
Then for a breaf moment his apearance changed before one's eyes, Jeremy Brett was on stage as himself to wish the audiance a joyus Christmas. With a blink of the eye he changed back to Be Sherlock holmes.
I will always remember that evening.

ahhh! that's a very nice story.
I never managed to see him-I did write to him for a number of years- nice man, he wrote back and we kept in touch up until he died. I'm quite proud of my letters from him-he always told me how pleased he was to hear from me I seem to be quite lucky when it comes to writing to actors-I've had replies from some of my favourites. Not Basil Rathbone though-before my time!

I often Write to the cast of of a show that moves me in some way. I know there is so manny that make a show work, and how hard it can be.
Sometimes I receive a reply, a sined autograph etc.

I notice that you have a copy of Mrs Beeton's manual. Have you ever put it to god use?
