Oh, wait, today is just tuesday... my mistake...... I didn't do Roots today, so it seemed like it must have been wednesday.....duh....

NO! not carrot cake!?!
Make her a *decent* cake... the ones from Oregon Dairy are /really/ good... the icing is better than any icing I have ever tasted. Kind of a whipped cream only different.
*the theory loves whipped cream*
peace.

Yes, Carrot cake.... as per her request..... with cream cheese frosting.... as per her request.... traditionally (in our house anyway) the mommy makes a birthday cake for everyone else's birthday. Hubby's favorite cake is the one his family always had for birthdays - a white cake with lemon pie filling between the layers and white fluffy frosting. Why does she want carrot cake? First of all we all like it, including her, and secondly, she just got her braces off last week (you must have missed her de-bracing party on her space - hint, hint), and can finally eat nuts again, which as we all know, carrot cake must have.
Have you ever had any of the combination Carrot cake/cheese cake things from Stauffers? I've only ever seen it in the dessert case as you walk in the front door (lititz pike location), and never a whole cake, just a slice or 1/4 cake. It has a layer of carrot cake and a layer of cheese cake, separated by and covered with cream cheese frosting............. and is incredibly good. Extremely rich, but ooooooooohhhhh soooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooood. If I felt like fooling with a cheesecake today too, I'd make one of those things for her.
And how can anyone eat they way you say you do and stay so thin? whipped cream frosting.... ack! As it is, if I have any of the carrot cake, I'll only have a smidgen at best. And still expect to wear it the rest of my life.
BTW, I never noticed that the frosting from Oregon Dairy (which shall henceforth in this thread be known as The Pit, as it is in this household, because *someone* thinks I spend too much money there, hence it is a money pit - but lets face it, it's the closest place to where we live to get what you need in a hurry, and so it is essentially our convience store)..... ummmmm what was I talking about? oh, yeah... Pit frosting... I never noticed it was that much different from anyone else's, but now that you mention it, I guess I have had a couple of samples of their cakes at some point or other and it was pretty fluffy. Us cooks know it's just a matter of whipping it until it's fluffier, therefore the same amount of ingredients covers more cakes. Ingenious of them, huh?

hmmm... talk of cake makes theory hungery.
my mom usually makes us either a cake or pie or something that we request for our b-day's too. I prefer a chocolate cake with whipped cream for a topping cuz I hate most icings otu there.
However, I am no kind of cook. To tell you the truth, I can't even microwave frozen burritos right. Heaven knows how I will live after I move out of home. Maybe I can live on macaroni and cheese and micorwavable popcorn. Each of those I can make w/o disaster.
peace.

how did this get to the bottom of my list of conversations?
couldn't be that I was too rude to answer it the day I got it, could it?
Carrot cake was good - down to one last piece of it.....
How's Theory been these days?

Isn't there something else out there in the wide world of jobs that you'd enjoy doing more? Surely someone is hiring people to do more interesting things with their Friday Nights and Saturdays.

gosh, I don't know. I'm not exactly "skilled" or "intelligent" in any kind of way. I think I am destined to spend my entire life taking and giving money to cusomers. And swiping credit cards. oh well, at least I get an employee discount.
peace.

tried as in applied? or tried as in already worked?
peace.

Lady Scott Posted Apr 14, 2002
I meant as in have applied recently..... but yes to both, please differentiate between the two.
I'll tell you right now, Circuit city is not the easiest place to get a job - I do know one 18 yr old who works there (might be 19 by now), who has actually had promotions and raises, so it's certainly not impossible, but normally they don't hire teens.... they do have a very difficult testing program just to get the job to begin with. So don't be too disappointed if they aren't interested in you.
But all the places you've mentioned would be the kind of job where you'd do exactly what you're doing now, at least to start out with..... sounds like a very sideways move if you got a job at any of those places. But then, that's the kind of thing most high school kids get stuck with, because no one else will hire them. It's really a matter of just being able to work around the kind of stuff you like , as opposed to working just anywhere then....

Applied: haven't yet. might apply to Sight and Sound.
Already Worked: S. Clyde Weaver meat and cheese (there in Lanc. Shopping Center) as a sales associate. Fine, but a lot of stress. Quit there and started at Provident where I have worked as a cashier for a year and 10 months. I asked if I could start working book department, but they didn't have any openings.
peace.
