Nope, wasn't me! Telewest have decided to jam up my email account...so the emails are piling up, but I can't access any of them. Stupid company. One day I shall burn them...burn them all...

Cheers for the information...I get a little dizzy when I pass through the pages you have made up. Too much colour and information. Should take another visit soon...but...ah...lazy am I...

No, it's not the usual 400's problem. Seems Telewest have made up a whole new problem just for me! My received emails page doesn't even bother loading up...so I now have 10 emails and counting piling up, and can't read them.

Let me know if you find a way around that? It's incredibly frustrating...!

Thankee-doodle...

It's a pain in the butt.

What is it with Telewest? Are they completely incapable of providing a half-functional sevice?

Pah...

Bonjour ma petit pois!

I seem to have wavered onto your path again, owing to a mysterious chappie accosting me in the Foyer of LD yesterday evening and asking me questions about that email thingy that you originally asked me. Once again...t'wasn't me.

Also, I'm going to have a rummage around your Userspace in a moment. Decided to knuckle down and figure out how to use GuideML and all the tricky stuff. As a result, my own likkle Userspace is looking spanking and colourful. Ok, so it's no Hollywood, but it looks better...so being that I'm in the mood and we have had an update of this place, I need more info. If you could provide any I would be happeeeee smiley - biggrin

Um. You are a very useful person to have around, you know that?

Must dash. Need to look at the new layout format thing...

Happy Hamsters!

smiley - boinghi... hehe...

yes, this email is a real egnima for us...smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin

but, the main important thing at the mo' is the update... as...YES IT HAS HAPPENED...smiley - laughsmiley - laugh... there is a skin for digibox users which allow us to access all the conversations we want without having to click on the "360 link" anymore... it's only a prototype as they let it go "live" earlier than planned because the new DNA version would have stopped us using the "360 trick"... [it seems that what allowed us to do it was a bug...]

anyway... as you might not find it in your preferences yet here is the quickest way to get it...
click on:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/

then click on "my space"...
then click on "preferences"
you will find that for some unknown reasons it says that your chosen /skin/background is "alabaster"...
change it for "plain"... then click "update" and that's it you will be in that digibox friendly skin for as long as you want...

then you can enjoy the freedom of accessing long conversations and their backlogs without any hassles...smiley - biggrin

one thing tho'... the last received messages are at the bottom after the journal part... but it's a little inconvenience compared to the perpetual blue messages from the digibox...

feel free to try it and enjoy...

it's not the final product yet but it does the trick...

talk later...smiley - surfer

have fun with the new skin...

and it's no problem at all re: having a rummage in my userspace...smiley - biggrin

if you see anything that you might want for your space go for it...

i'm glad to be able to show the LDers the choices we've got now [eg: the new sites "collective", "book of the future" and, of course, "talk buffy"...]

Hmmm. you should be able to solve the conversations appearing at the bottom of your page by just adding to the top of your space:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/MP190885

I think that's the link, just change my researcher number for yourssmiley - erm

hehe... we're improving the prototype already...smiley - whistle

smiley - ta... that will help... especially as our userspaces are displayed in all the DNA sites i want to put more info on mine so it could mean a long way down before seeing my conversations...smiley - whistle
it's not too bad when pressing the "page down" button but still... hehe...
i like the idea of customising our spaces anyway...smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin

talk later... more lurking to do...smiley - surfer

Whoa...biiiiiiiiiiiiiig text box. I am liking this new skin. MUCH better. I've only just grasped the concept of this one, so you'll have to excuse me not knowing what the heck you mean when you are talking about how to get the conversations in a more accessible place smiley - smiley But I like this. I can see the little pictures better!!!! Yey!!

kow...all you had to do was tell me who you were in the chatroom. Didn't bother me too much. Reminded me of my time in the MAFIA. Wait. That wasn't me.

Cheers Loup. All your help is much appreciated. Give me a few hours/days to catch up to speed and I'm sure I'll eventually know what is going on!

and the best of all is that we can access the long conversations with it...smiley - cool

take your time...smiley - biggrin...

i still need to add more links on my page... and of course we need to update the LDers space after such good news...

but these last days have been quite eventful...smiley - whistle... so we're going to relax a bit... and enjoy the prototype skin... [while telling as many digibox users as possible of course...smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin]

as for the email... hehe... there are actually a few secrets around it...smiley - laugh
but nothing sinister...
not even james bond like...smiley - wahsmiley - biggrin

anyway enjoy the new skin [sounds smiley - weird saying that...]...

I do NOT like the lack of search button. Just realised this. Makes it difficult to link up with everything...but I can put up with it. Plenty to jump around from...like cyber-stepping stones!

re: search button...

i would expect that they will add it later on...
it's only a prototype at the mo'... they let it go "live" as an emergency measure so that we [digibox users] can carry-on access long conversations...

if for some reasons they can't do it... then it will be a question of adding our own link... [it's possible to do... just one line to copy and we have our own customised search facility...smiley - biggrin] no big problem there...

it can only get better with this skin...smiley - biggrinsmiley - laugh

Brilliant! Thankyou! The only problem I'm having now is with editing the darn page. It only remembers so much of it...which causes much re-writing!
