Michele - Doily Mogul: Don't leave me! If you go there'll be no braincells in the room at all!

Halloo Bertie!

Nice to see lawyers can be creative with more than just the interpretation of the law! (ha! Ha!) I also am new to h2g2. I have met several lovely people on this site, and have had loads of fun running amok. "Running amok" being one of my favorite characteristics! Hope to see you around in some of the conversations -

Hi Michele !

Reading the message on Your personal side, I see You believe aliens are responsible for the doily (among other things).
Makes a lot of sense in the H2G2-reality, considering that Douglas Adams, the founder of H2G2, found out that the planet earth is in fact run by aliens that are cunningly disguised as mice.

The mice already know that the answer to eyerything is 42 !
For further enlightment I recommend the books of THE FOUNDER, Douglas Adams.

The books are really very funny and well worth reading.

I see from Your message that You adhere to the theory that being a lawyer is a hard burden to carry through life.
I´d love to elaborate on this right away at some considerable length but, having writen this terrible threat, find that I´m bound to sue some widows and orphans first to pry the bread from their little fingers.

Is it tough to be an Art Director ?
Myself, I´ve days when I feel decidedly uncreative and unfunny. I imaginge it can be a strain to have to come up with something creative on the job all the time.

Bye for now

Dear Bertie,

Being creative on a daily basis is not difficult for me. It is however quite hard to be creative with something you think is exceptionally boring, like carpet stain remover labels, or shipping boxes. I find h2g2 is a great little jump-start of creativity just when I'm feeling my most bored!

I hope you are an effective attorney. I fear that if you don't get every last speck of bread from those widows and orphans the first time round, you'll just set yourself up for more "breadings" and where would that lead?

I read Douglas Adams "The Hitchhikers Guide", and some of his other books - but it has been over 20 years ago. I think I'll take your advice and reread them!

Delightful hearing from you again! Happy Wimpy (if you don't know what that means - check out the "Thingite" cause!)

Hello my not-interested-in-designing-that-"$2 off this purchase"-coupon-right-at-this-point-in-time friend.

Considering Your views on doilies I sure hope Your manufactoring company doesn´t diversify to take up the production of doilies. Designing a "Doily of the week" coupon might be little hard on those creativity circuits in the brain.

The "Thingite" cause is just what the world needs today. I wonder whether "Happy Thing" is the correct greeting. Sounds somewhat ambiguous.

Being afflicted by a conscience I couldn´t really take the bread away from widows and orphans (besides: the German law protects debitors quiet well from undue procedures, so it wouldn´t even work).

Have You seen the weirdness test (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A681022).

I´m looking forward to hearing about Your results (if You should do the test).

Bye for now

Dearest Bertie,

I am sure you'll be very happy to know that I passed the Weirdness test with flying (well, maybe galloping) colors! I immediately thought of a purple wrench. Color being one of my specialties, I would never have chosen something as ordinary as red. As you can tell from my name I am quite fond of "different" colors. Chartreuse being one, magenta, maroon, teal and fuschia as well. Red is overdone, and blue, well what can I say about blue except that it is boring. Although, you wouldn't know it to look at me, as I dress rather conservatively most of the time (must have been those years that I worked in Insurance, and as an Executive Assistant at a securities firm). However I have great hopes of coming in to work some day in flowing purple garb!

Sorry to hear you are afflicted, but very happy to hear you have a conscience! (I just had a feeling you wouldn't be able to rip those stale crusts out of those little hands!).

Happy Thing!
Your colorful friend,

Hello creative friend,
who walks in beauty like the night of cloudless climes and starry nights.
How is that for creativity? Not my own, but creatively copied from Byron.

I´m still recovering from the result of the weirdness test. I did think of a red hammer!
I´ve no idea what triggered the thought. Being asked to think of a tool, I´d probably come up with something more sophisticated under normal circumstances.
I usually don´t think of red hammers anyway. In fact (red being an unusual colour for a hammer) I think it´s the first time ever, I thought "red hammer.“

Most disturbing!

I was thinking in German, when I did the calculations, so whatever triggered the thougt can´t be related to a specific language.

Talking of numbers, have You tried to manipulate Your researcher number to equal 42?
(see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A530560 for further information).Tell me if You succeed.

Bye for now

Yours weirdly

Bertie Wooster

P.S.: Do You read P.G. Wodehouse?
I´ve just spent a very relaxed Sunday afternoon rereading parts of „Right Ho, Jeeves“ and feel very well disposed to mankind for a change.
