Thanks for dropping by.
I wasn't actually looking for anything in particular when I found h2g2.
I am new to internet stuff so would appreciate help with GuideML.
What do the commands and do?
On a more sociable level I like Games, Puzzles, Limericks and Jokes.
I am also slightly competitive, so if there are any competitions that you know about, I would appreciate a nod.
Have a good one...

Strangely enough one of the conversations that I subscribe to is all about Limericks, you have to answer the previous one with one of your own with a link in the theme that runs through them.
The tags you mention are used for forming tables to display information or graphics. One way to display a graphic with text next to it is to put each in a seperate box of a table.
I will rush off to my space and copy some commands for you to try out at your space.
Back in a mo....

You have obviously started your space as a GuideML page not just plain text so I don't have to tell you about Guide and Body Tags.
Type whatever text you like here....
Note you can't just use spaces, you have to use instead!!
Normally you would start with the command. In this case there has been some positioning going on as well. The last tag you will need to close the table is . Tags are "Nested" as it's called. imagine printing oput the code for your space on a piece of paper and drawing a line from an opening tag to it's closing tag. You would be able to do this and no lines would cross, they would lie one on top of the other in the way that the layers of an onion are made up. (I apologise if I'm insulting your inteligence here).
The tag sets up the first row of boxes, the sets up the first box. The closes the first box. Another will place a second box to the right of the first. You can use several made up like this per row. To finish the row of boxes use a tag. If you want to start another row use another followed by as many tags to make up the next row, end with a . If this is sufficient use an

Got ahead of myself cutting and pasting there. you'll need to remove the two tags at the end immediately before the tag!
Have fun

Thank you for this information I will consume and inwardly digest.
I appreciate you explaining it simply (you did not insult my intelligence) because I wouldn't have understood it otherwise.

All you need to do, is cut the code, go back to your own space and click the Edit Page button (towards the top on the right) and then paste the code in somewhere appropriate. Don't forget to miss out the last two tags before the
