Me....
I'm from Singapore, a major supporter of perennial underachievers the Wolves (yes I know what desperation, tragedy and pain is... I have experienced it first hand).
Yeah into music... one thing bad about being in my early 40's is that all the bloody songs I hated in the 60's, 70's and 80's is coming around to annoy me again. Except that I find myself saying this is even worse than the original !! Ok maybe its an exaggeration... can anyone really hate songs from the 60's...? Yeah ok.. we can...
But I do like Asian Dub Foundation, some Moby and the band that did Parachutes.... bugger if I can remember the name... Thats one of the things thats bothering me at present... I'm forgetting stuff... Not that I didn't before.. cue teachers at school... 'You're always bloody forgetting things... you'd forget your head if it wasn't attaced to your neck...blah... blah " But a bit more now... 10 years ago, I'd never have forgotten the names of bands or their first 10 records in the correct order ! Its bothering me, it is.
I love the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and one of the highlights of my recent life was hearing Douglas Adams speak at a conference in Cannes in 2001. This was obviously before he snuffed his mortal coil, as it were. Hilarious... He was living in California by then, so he did have plenty of material (ta-boom or whatever the sound is that drummers make when commedians say something corny).
I've done a few things that I'm proud of... I think that we should all leave our mark somehow... not old hat like children or something.. something mornumentous... bigger than that... like Mother Theresa or something. However I look awful in a sari so its been more mundane things... wrote a political song which was recorded - I love the lyrics but hate the tune. At the time, I just wanted to see if I could just turn on the tap and write one to order. I did. And 15 years or so later, ther lyrics still don't make me cringe... the tune tho' - less said abt it the better.
I have also produced a CD for a bunch of mates - that was more recent.. 1 great song.. that I will someday use in a film (if I can get my b*****d b-i-l to make one). He IS a good actor and graduated from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School... wasting his talent here in Singapore tho'.
I want to write a book.... something that I'd like.
So there... i'm not actually like that !!... but this is one side of me

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
