Welcome to h2g2 - I love Douglas's books too - I understand that they are trying to reconstruct one that he was writing when he left us Apparently they are using files that were on his computer - so here's hoping BTW - have you heard the radio play - that's where it all started
My name is Feisor and I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) here at h2g2.
We ACEs are here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
You can leave a message on my space just by clicking on my name at the top of this message or by hitting the reply button below - it won't hit back (usually).
The "Italics" (they are the people who run this place - so-called because their names are displayed in bold italics - God Bless 'Em) have left a message for newcomers at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome-Newcomers
it's got a lot of the basic background and how-tos that you will need - a good place to start
Then you can take the H2G2 Tour at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A317459 to see how it all works
If some of the H2G2 terms leave you a little confused, there is a great page about it at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A632431 (thanks to Dastardly for this great page)
And finally, the editors of our own newspaper The H2G2 Post have made up a page of links - you can find it at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A616718 and then you can read The Post
Well - that should keep you busy for a while I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know
Enjoy!!
Have fun!!!
and above all DON'T PANIC!!!

Hi. Thanks for your help. I have listened to the radio series, but not all of it unfortunately, I kept missing it when they repeated it on Radio 4 recently. it is good. I'm not sure who does Ford better though, Geoffery Mcgivern or David Dixon in the TV series.
What do you think?

you're asking the wrong person there - saw a bit of the TV show years ago and was not impressed - I prefer the books and the radio series - I recently bought the radio show on CD - so now I can listen whenever I want
Are you finding your way around ok??
I'm here if you need help

Hi Feisor. A lot of people on h2g2 seem to be saying they weren't that impressed with the TV series. I suppose it depends on how you thought of the characters before. Oh well. Personally I didn't mind it.
Interesting about the unfinished book. I hadn't heard anything about that.
I am finding my way around relatively ok. I will check out some of those pages you suggested later.
