I've prepared some links for you to get you started on H2G2, just click them to take you to that page. First of all a message to Newcomers from the people who run this place: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome-Newcomers ,it tells you most things you need to know about H2G2 and what its all about.

Second link is the GuideMl clinc, a place which teaches researchers how to use GuideML, H2G2's own own markup laguage which is similar and based on HTML but you'll learn more about that heresmiley - geek: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A187229

For information on smileys vist: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smiley this is the section of H2G2 which explains about smileys and how to make them appear. Once you know how, its hard to stop the little guys/girls appearing all over the place in your messages smiley - winkeye

Greetings CK, thanks for your words of welcome. I have a question for you: where can I view a complete list of researchers? Up to now I have been able to view researchers who are currentley on line or I discover them in conversations. Is a complete list available anywhere?

Hmm you can search for "a friend" in the search engine feature by entering there name, scrolling down past the guide entrys listed and there will be a heading saying "search for a friend". To my knowlegde there is no complete list. There are over 190000+ researchers here so a big list may be rather daunting and well big smiley - headhurts

Having fun any other problems? Any particualr reson for asking for the list?

CK
I have no real reason for wanting or needing to view a list of all of the reseachers. I'm just the sort of frood who given a piece of string will try to see how far he can stretch it. Anyroadup, as soon as I asked you the question I realized how "impossible" it is. However, 'tis sometimes only by seeking the impossible that we learn what is possible. I beleive smiley - smiley.

Dankeschön!

Greetings CK,
Nice of you to drop by and see how I'm doing. Well, I'm having fun and doing OK and the only probelm I have is finding enough time to learn more about h2g2 and contribute.
I see from your space that you are enormously activesmiley - cool!! Where do you find the time !?
Here's a question for you. I visited a couple of spaces recentley that had photos. I thought you could only use the pictures from the h2g2 library. Do you know how to insert photos?

Thanks about the user space, its totally different if you look at it on 360!

The question: The pictures you may of seen are from a H2G2 meet uo right? if so heres the answer. H2G2 used to let you put in your own pictures but now you can only use ones they 'Blob'. When they 'blob' a picture you can use it by enterning its blob number into the relevant part of the image tag in GuideML. The editors will of blobbed these pictures and people will of 'borrowed' them. To view the code used to make a page do the following:

On a user space eg.U123456 take the U off and enter testuserpage and then enter the number of it like 12345 do it reads testuserpage123456
. Its usually polite to ask before 'Borrow' stuff.

To see the code for a entry simply enter tes instead of A so it looks like

test123456 instead of A123456

Hope you follow me. I'll simplify it if you want just post back and tell me if this helped smiley - ok
