It's 9:45 pm, july 4th, here in Texas.
vulpix is outside with the neighbors, whose parents are setting off a few fireworks. She got a sparkler, and is having a ball.

No fireworks have gone off here recently. A car backfired outside my house last night, does that count?
Happy 4th of July, Vulpix
Have fun everyone.

It's drizzling down rain, the sky is overcast, and the ground is soaked. The local air force base is still setting off a huge display. Since we live less than a mile from their front gates, we can watch it from our front yard. There we are, in the rain with our umbrellas and our lawnchairs, enjoying the show.

there was a display about a mile or two from here last night - we could see it from our back yard, through a clearing in the trees.

And last night someone had what had to be quite illegal firworks, setting them off from their yard - it was kinda neat seeing them so close by, though, because they were definitely right in the neighborhood.

I can see three major fireworks displays from my yard also each year. Ridiculous, isn't it? In a single celebration of Independence Day, Americans blow off more explosives than were used in most of the previous wars in history. Instead, we could be invading Canada, as Evil Roy suggests!
Wait! I *did* invade Canada last autumn while on vacation. As I recall, they took a lot of my money. They did it all very politely, I might add.
They even sent a thank you note. It's true!

Heard still more fireworks last night, but it's beginning to be overkill.... didn't even bother to go outside to see where they were.
Ho hum.
