Instead of the other thread being hijacked - anyone want to bad mouth Chelsea or praise Wayne Rooney can do it quite safely here. smiley - smiley

The Ghost of Polidari

As I'm the one who forced you off the other thread (smiley - smiley), I thought I'd better add a comment.

Wayne Rooney - very good. Big thighs.

Chelsea - don't care.
Though Cudicini is probably the best goalie in the league at the moment...

smiley - huh What is all this with the Big Thighs???

In your very interesting and very possibly not auto-biographical homepage you mentioned going to India. Is this something you did do? As I am off there with a friend in January and any advice would be most welcome.

Back on to the important stuff though - Cudicini is a very good goalie - although seeing him in the game against Viking FC a few weeks ago would not inspire me with too much confidence if I were a Chelsea man.

smiley - cheers

The Ghost of Polidari

I did indeed go to India. It was very nice. I have to say we cheated somewhat (a group of us from work went), and we booked a tour through a tour company (unsurpringly). We got a good discount (we work for a travel company), and so we had tour guides all the way round, and the worst accomodation we had was 4*, and that was only because there was no 5* in a couple of places...

I guess because of that we had very few problems. The only time anyone got a touch of the Delhi belly was when they had a salad in Pizza Hut - the one time we didn't eat local food on the whole trip. It was also good for us last year because of all the troubles there meant hardly any tourists about so we got in everywhere straight away, and it also meant not many hawkers about (you need to get used to them quick as they're at every tourist location). Do all the normal stuff - bottled water, etc. The only problem with going with a tour company was that each location we were taken to the shops they had deals with, but you weren't forced into buying anything if you didn't want to (though we went with a shopaholic). In the end the cheapest place I found for gifts, etc, was the Delhi museum.

Our first full day there we say one of the England one day internationals (the one we won with two balls to spare), which was good, but they wouldn't let you take anything into the ground - food, water, cameras, not even a pen!

I appear to have hijacked the football thread which was hijacking the call centre thread with tales of India smiley - biggrin.

Footy can always be talked about elsewhere.

Was that the one-dayer when Freddy ripped his shirt off and started legging it around the pitch? That was well funny smiley - laugh

Sounds good though. Especially the reduction of hawkers.
We'll be going to South India when we get there. Planning on going from Bombay-Goa-Kerala-(maybe)Madras.

It'd be nice to get up to Delhi and see the Taj Mahal, but it'll quite a trip just to see it.

smiley - cheers for the advice - much appreciated. Starting to get a bit nervous about it all as it drwas nearer.

I'd get yourself a better map if I was you - the Taj Mahal isn't in Delhi!

We did a trip further North - generally known as the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Aggra and Jaipur), we also added Varanassi as well (so more of a rhombus really). Each of the four places was fascinating and had it's own individual character. Each was worth seeing.

Don't forget your shots and malaria tablets!
