Totters in wearing 4" stillettoes

Without going off on another of my rants I'll try very briefly to talk about health care and the performing and visual arts. The research done so far at the Chelsea and Westminster shows that both visual and performing arts lower anxiety and depression (which in other studies are shown to increase hospital stays & recovery times). They also improve recruitment and retension ( a big problem in the NHS) and lower staff stress levels (another big problem problem in the NHS). The results of the final study into physiological changes within the patients, ie. the direct impact of the arts on their physical health, will be published at the end of the year.
I only started Morris dancing in September, so May will be my first outing (hopefully). It's so much fun I don't know why I didn't learn earlier.
Hope your hangover is gone by Monday morning. Have a good week.

Hope you had a nice weekend. Not sure if I have fully recovered just yet......still feeling a little muzzy headed - but that might just be the old Monday feeling
That's quite interesting about the arts reducing stress and anxiety. I'd be very surprised if the results turned out negative (ie the arts not lowering stress and anxiety levels). Perhaps this should also be promoted a little more outside of hospitals as well, try and stop people getting quite as stressed and depressed so they don't end up in hospital in the first place. Here's hoping.
Ah well, best get back to w**k.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. RL's been getting in the way and I'm now ploughing through my mound of backlog Is it possible to drown in backlog?
The drumming was great, although embarrassingly resulted in back ache through over exertion While it reduved my stress levels it's resulted in two days at home off sick. Mmm, according to the research it should have boosted my immune system though so that's OK
How are things going?

Things aren't going too bad I suppose.
Hope you are feeling better after your drumming injury.
Generally upset about how badly the Spurs are doing lately, but I'm sure that won't last too long, I'd have thought I 'd be used to that by now anyway.
When I went to the docs the other week the nurse said my blood pressure was really high, and that got me all worried for a bit, but when I went back it was normal. It might just have been the nurse making my heart beat faster (she was un belle femme).
No doubt I'll be getting ill quite a bit more now

My drumming injury has cleared up and so too has my injury caused by one of those GP practice nurses. For some strange reason I can't remember now, I thought it would be a good idea to have my meningitis C vaccination as the Govt have changed their guidelines and I am no longer too old but fall in their recommended age group (just). By the evening I couldn't move my arm because it was so painful. I had trouble even dressing and the pain was keeping me awake at night. My arm was agony for 3 days. When I looked at the injection site, it looked like she had given the injection too centrally. I think she hit the nerve. Thankfully I now have full use of my left arm again. I've made a mental note that next time I think about having an immunisation I should consider if I really, really need it.
Apart from that life has been good. I am on the 2nd week of my 2 week Easter break. (where does the time go). I am avoiding writing the essays that I really should be making more progress on. I'm a last minute person and I get very stressed completing the essays, promise I'll never leave it until the last minute again but I've not kept my promise yet.

Glad to hear you are back to full fitness again. Sounds like a nasty business with your arm.
I am currently in agony after being over-worked at Bushido last night. I don't think I have ever been so close to passing out for about 3/4 hour. It was like the devil's gymnasium.
Apart from that all is well. Although I'm not looking forward to tomorrow as it's Arsenal v Spurs and I think we are going to get very badly beaten. Let's hope I can win some money on the National and try and forget all about it.
Hope your Easter break was enjoyable, would've been nice to have one here, but then again at least I have no essays to stress about. I wouldn't worry about doing them at the last minute btw. That's what the last minute is there for.
Must dash. GWL

Hiya Deackie,
I'm afraid I have been given a burden that I must offload unto you.
Not only do I think you need this as you probably have many essays and exams coming up, but with your unfortunate injection escapade and your drumming injury, you might need a happy head on for a bit?
TAG! YOU'RE 'IT'!!! YOU HAVE JUST BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE H2G2 GAME OF 'LOO BRUSH TAG'!! YOU MUST TAG SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE (<CHEERUP> 'LOO BRUSH' OR YOU LOOSE ALL RIGHTS TO 42. ...and NO, you may not turn around and TAG me back

Tsk, just typical. You tag poor unsuspecting me while I'm flustered and something else too.... there's only one thing for it... see you later, I'm off to find someone else to tag
