I am happy to find people from all over Europe on Hootoo!
I felt rather awkward here at first, as I am, indeed, a Russian living and teaching English in Russia. Lil's atelier seems to be quite international ! Well done, Nick for bringing my friend Hayayfi to the place ! Hootoo is so huge that it's things tend to sort out so fast. At the moment I'm utterly satisfied with how things have developed. Looking forward to more fun and hope not to be a burden for my fellow cyber travellers.

I haven't done anything with it since I moved in at the end of 2002. I look in most days but recently I have been so busy that I cannot follow all the conversations I would like to.

So if I'm absent or don't answer immediately, it is because w*rk and real life is interfering with my life on h2g2

Have a and take a look around in the conversations. Some are crazzy, some are serious, some are fun and some always end up discussing food, weather or sex.

I use h2g2 as an equivalent to a café where you sometimes meet people you know, sometimes strangers - some you like and have common interests with - some you don't care much for.

And NOW I have to fly.

I do follow Lil's thread, but the backlog is a killer, and I am just not cut out for cafes and big parties.
We've also had gorgeous sunny weather for days on end and a month earlier than usual

Good to have you back. Yes sometimes it is difficult to follow all the conversations you want to or read all the interesting entries.

For a while I tried to get into all the things written in Alternative Writing Workshop (I'm not sure the name is all correct). But it is verytime consuming.

I have four children - including my husband's son from a previous marriage. F 33, M 30, F 20 and M 17. The three oldest have moved out. My daugther of 33 has a son A. of 4½. My husband's son of 30 has a son of 5 and a daughter of 4.

I'm not translating a book - I'm writing one. It is an assignment. A book to celebrate a company's 25th anniversary. The company provide 'tools' for selecting and developing leaders and work force in an organisation/company.

What I was translating was a programme for a seminar for nordic freelance journalists. We try to get by on a common scandinavian language, but the Finnish people have a totally different language - related to Estonian and Hungarian. Most of them understand a little Swedish but from Swedish to Danish is quite a distance. So I had to translate it into English.

I'm elected to the committee for freelance journalists in Denmark and am in charge of the seminar.

Well, I'd better get on with writing out my research interviews and shaping the informations for interesting chapters in the book.

How is your life? Do you - as we do - have a school break for Easter? Where or who are you teaching? Do you teach other subjects than English?

This is a secular country and school doesn't break up for Easter.
Since perestroika we've been having more and more flexibility, which is sometimes confusing and inconvenient - e.g. different schools have holidays at different times. As my children go to two schools, their holiday pattern is different... well, there is a good point to it, too - they don't get stuck in the flat together, but in twos!
which is good for the flat and the parents ah, everyone is safer
I only teach English to small groups of children, mostly teenagers. I do work at a school, but it's bad for me
