Happy Birthday
tartaronne Posted Oct 17, 2005
I did have a lovely day.
I had to w*rk from early morning and as it is school holiday this week - (from old times when the kids had to help collect the potatoes) - everybody else slept in. At around 9 there was the ritual birthday breakfast at a festive table and with baker's bread and cakes.
No presents, because the family had planned a mystery tour to the nearby city. 18 bought us lunch, and then I was let loose in a bookshop to find my own present, while the others did secret shopping (16 a blues CD with female artists for me, Sig. S. and 18 bought the ingredients for a that Sig. S. is making right now.).
My mother and oldest daugther has sung for me on the phone and I got a nice card from Sig. S.'s parents (with 20 euro) and a quick lotto from my brother.

I would tend to say that 'One Tart Ran' is a quite remarkable anagram as well...
But yes, I was quite happy with it when I stumbled onto it

We had Tattie Holidays in north-east Scotland too. The farmers wouldn't have been able to get the crop in without help from all the children.
I only went to The Tatties once - aged about 14. It was freezing cold, wet and miserable and not worth the small amount of money I earned for the day's work.
I think the whole process is much more mechanised now.

It is highly mechanized - as all farming in Denmark. One hardly sees a human in the fields any more. Lesser jobs for the people who cannot read or write very well.

aye. the way things go humans are only usable as consumers before long
but on the bright side we can take long walks in the countryside without meeting anyone...
