Yey, finally the ACE thing and all those links that you don't have to follow smiley - winkeye And of course, the welcome to h2g2 if you need any help just ask and I LOVE smileys, I don't care what anyone says smiley - tongueout I'm deackie, one of those ACEs mentioned in the other thread.

I've just popped round to see how you are settling in. h2g2 can seem a little overwhelming at first so my advice is to have a look around to get a feel of the place and join in some conversations to meet people. If you are wondering where to start exploring The H2G2 Post, h2g2's own surperb newspaper, has a page of useful and interesting links at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A616718 Another good way to get a feel of the community is to look at other researchers' personal spaces. If you click on the 'Who's Online' button you can click on any of the researchers' names and visit their space.

Smileys are a smiley - cool way to brighten up postings and guide entries. Oh yes they are. The smiley list can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smiley or you can click on any smiley and it will take you to its code smiley - biggrin

Well, now you've been ACEd smiley - smiley

So, you're an Anglophile. Are you English living in the states or American with a love of things English?

If you need any help, just ask. Hopefully we'll chat soon.

I guess you won't see this for awhile, as you've already left, but I though "what the heck".

I am an American (technically speaking Irish-American cause my grandma immigrated here) with a love of all things British, blueish, saltyish, bookish, softish and childish- and anything else I can attach an "ish" to except fish.

Fish....ish! :p

"what the heck" indeed smiley - ok I'm always hanging around this place so it's never long until I read a reply smiley - smiley I don't know if the others have warned you about this addiction thing, it won't be long until you experience it first hand I'm sure. You probably won't even realise until the day when you are unable to log on and start getting the shakes smiley - biggrin

An American with a love of all things British. Perhaps you could start importing some of the best British pastimes and introducing them to fellow Americans. You could start tomorrow. Get a group of your friends, stand in a line and discuss the weather while moaning about the state of something or other. You'll find everyone can spend an enjoyable hour this way and you'll be glad you did it smiley - winkeye Do you by any chance watch EastEnders? I have heard tell of a large number of American fans of the show.

I have on ocassion, watched Eastenders, but I prefer British comiedies.

I have tried on many occasions to introduce a few British pastimes around my city, but so far the only major thing I do is put on a British accents for friends and classmates.
In fact, I think I've listened to so many British programs and done my British accent so many times that it's starting to have an effect on the way I normally talk. I've had 3 people ask my if I used to live in England or something like that.

As for forming an orderly queue, forget it! smiley - smiley I haven't seen the smallest hint of a line since starting high school.

"I haven't seen the smallest hint of a line since starting high school." - sounds awful smiley - sadface Perhaps you could form an orderly queue of one and hope that your friends notice how much fun you're having and decide to join in smiley - winkeye

Which British comedies do you like? I loved watching the documentary that was made when one of our comedians toured America. He was quite nervous about going as he's a transvestite and he wasn't sure how this would go down in the US.
