and I forgot.......
If you hit 'preferences' (at the side if you're using goo and at the top somewhere if you're using alabaster) theres a place where you can give yourself a name instead of being researcher whatever number you are

Hello Rat. I just wanted to thank you for welcoming me to h2g2. I don't have much time to explore the site tonight. Sleep is a good thing when the alarm goes off at 6:00am.. Congratulations on your new "aceness". I'm sure you'll do just fine. Your letter to me was quite spiffy and it's nice to know I can run to you for help(I'm going to need new sneakers by the time I catch on). Well, thanks again and I'll be keeping in touch. 6am on a Sunday morning...that bites 
Tis not so much new aceness anymore - been at it a couple of months now 
but the now I dont know what to do bit gives me an excuse for when I make a mess of it
