In reference to you giving up smoking.....

I understand it helps a little to keep a short piece of pencil on hand to hold in your fingers like a cig, hold in your mouth... I've even seen people flick the non-existant ashes off the pencil, just to keep doing the same actions while they're going through that withdrawl... and if there's a drug store (pharmacy? I don't know what you call it there) open, can you get a nicotine patch to help?

They say chewing gum can help too, or hard candy, but I don't know...

My best to you as you continue to try to kick the habit - you're young yet, it should not be as difficult as it would be if you were a lot older...

Thanks for your kindness. It is good to have support - this is the fourth or fifth time I've tried to give up and each time I've managed it for longer....I've tried gum and patches - don't think the pencil suggestion would be good though - for me it would just remind me I hadn't got a real cigarette and rub it in!!

Anyway, I'll keep at it - the first few days are the worst and it's just a matter of stubbornness at the moment!
