I told her about it in an email:

We correspond occasionally, it's nice to be involved in private, one-on-one communication. That's why Insight and I set up an encrypted channel on h2g2 while I couldn't access email - we could say virtually anything without worrying whether someone would pop in and comment, or even know what we were saying.

It's actually possible to set up hypersecure channels on h2g2, which no one aside from the participants will know about or access. (Of course, there are ways they can be discovered, but they're highly convoluted and improbable.) I don't suppose you're interested, so I won't detail it, but it's interesting to note.

Come on, I've taken the psychological equivalent of a photon torpedo to stern here - it doesn't take out your shields (not with one hit, anyway), but it sure shakes you about a bit. Don't you have anything encouraging to say about the recent events of which I have told you?

Yes, you will indeed get an email - though as you might know, I have about another ten exams left in as many days! So any response I compose will certainly be no more significant than anything I've wrote here... which is to say, it's unlikely to do your, erm, incredible situation justice.

Jordan, I am actually very surprised you don't realise that Della despises me and so passing on my photo album info to her could only have led to trouble from her and her family. Well, what's done is done.

Too many, az, too many!

I know she isn't too fond of you, but I imagined that giving her the link would possibly improve things. I had a brief premonition that perhaps if Apparition got a hold of it, I might regret it - I know you might place the blame on Della, but a lot of the time /she's/ being embarassed for her son's behaviour. However, it really seemed logical that Della would simply enjoy seeing what people looked like (which she did).

I can't get use to calling her Adelaide yet! I'm sure I will with time.

She is a grown woman responsible for her own behaviour. If she can't cope with her son then she shouldn't plaster her embarrassment and anger all over a public forum, imho.

I think you give her too much credit, myself. Apparition *is* her son, after all.

It's not so much to do with giving her credit as understanding her position - and besides, she already has some credit with me. You said that Member has been a friend to you - well, Della has been a friend to me. I think we're going to differ in this, though, so we don't have to argue the point.

No need to argue at all, m'dear. Though imagine if you had started up something like my photo album and I told Member about it (well, that example would work better if you were someone he despised, but you probably get my drift . . .)

So we can agree to disagree on Della, especially if you honestly think that her telling Apparition about the photo gallery was done without any malice aforethought (and remember, this was long before tanzen was in it).
