Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

I appear to be making a bit a hash of recent developments.

Got any fast working de-stress suggestions before I have a coronary or alienate the few friends I have left?

Hey you. smiley - hug

Well I'll bite my tongue (or should that be fingers?) and not joke about de-stressing by smashing things up etc etc, and try and think of something useful.

smiley - run

Ok, first thing for de-stressing is look at your breathing. No really. The more that we hold onto our breath, the more hung about things we can get, so practice a few minutes of deep (abdominal) breathing every morning, and particularly when you feel the stress smiley - monster about to come and bite you in the a*se.

The next important thing is to get that body moving - the more vigorous the better. Sorry, but there you go. Stress makes the muscles tight and the sinews clenched, so if you do some activity that moves the body (even if it's only going for a nice long walk in the woods...)then that will help to unclench the mind too.

As for remedies and stuff, well they *can* take a little while to work, but in my opinion your best bet would be some Flower Remedies. Yup, hokey sounding as they are, they really do work (when you get the right one). Rescue Remedy is always a good one for, you guessed it, emergencies (or when you feel like your head is about to explode). You can even buy it in Sainsburys and Boots.
For a more personal and customised remedy for you, try here:

And my last suggestion would be to get away from it all and laze around on a beach in Thailand. Failing that, how about lazing around in the West Country? You're welcome to come and visit if you want to get away.

Hi.smiley - biggrin

Today, as I've just said to KA, is a better day. Being on my own helps, though I do feel guilty (no help for some people, eh? smiley - winkeye) about that because Dave is hardly obtrusive. (Though he remains the master of the unintentionally stupid comment.smiley - grr

But I hear what you say. I know and have used flower remedies before - as you say, they appear hokey but they do appear to work. I shall have to look into it again.

Funny you should mention going to a beach in Thailand, because I had been toying with the idea of a short break to North Africa - having discovered the *fantastic* musical heritage of the region I am keen to see the place itself. Suddenly, though, the temporary work posting to Baghdad seems like a safer bet, so that one will have to go on hold for a bit...Maybe I should head off for the Mississippi Delta instead. smiley - smiley

That's a very kind offer, and I may well take you up on it in the not to distant future, though I am wary of interfering with the wedding planning, not to mention getting you caught in the middle of this. I think poor old Spikey is still recovering from getting the earbashing all that time ago when we started this crazy old roller-coaster ride...smiley - laugh

Excersise But you are right, of course. Maybe now is the time to buy that bike and live the dream of challenging Lance Armstrong up the Alp D'Huez - rroflmfao...

I can understand that being alone helps - I find the same when I'm stressed.

"the temporary work posting to Baghdad seems like a safer bet"....erm, yeah, ok... smiley - doh
A change of scenery would be an excellent idea right now, but Baghdad?!?
That's hardcore! And that coming from a traveller like myself is no idle statement...

Oh and do please feel *very* free to interfere with the wedding planning - a break from that would be exceedingly welcome!
As for getting caught in the middle of your muddle, well I was thinking of heading down to Essex for a weekend of excitemen..., sorry a dress fitting, so maybe that would be a good time for you to come here nad chill out with the Man? If you can use 'chill out' and the Man in the same sentence that is. smiley - laugh
That way, I can't be accused of taking sides you see! Always one to cover my back, me. smiley - biggrin

Good luck with the excercise - start small and go for a couple of walks in the woods (woods are particularly good for when you're feling stressed as it will help calm your Wood element (in TCM terms), which when out of balance leads to feelings of stress, irritablity, anger etc. Work up to the more strenuous stuff!

I decided against Baghdad, but there were a number of us in the office who thought about it for just a little bit longer than was sensible - which is an indication of just how bad things are there, if nothing else. Funnily I might have been more inclined to put in for it if things hadn't gone the way they had, which is probably illogical, but it's my mind and i don't understand it either...

I actually suspect Morrocco is as safe as houses now, and probably dirt cheap to boot. These boys didn't become a hyper-successful threat to world security by hitting the sam target twice.

And trust me, I wasn't about to rush off and try and do Alpe D'Huez next weekend. Maybe the weekend after...You *know* that my idea of strenous exercise is holding a pint.smiley - winkeye

Well your choice of Morrocco rather than Baghdad is probably wise. The Man and I were thinking of venturing there ourselves actually.
Hmm, that should probably read ' I was thinking of going there and the Man seems dubious'. smiley - winkeye

Well, he's the Man? What did you expect...smiley - laugh

Btw, has he been informed that he might have to put up with me for a whole weekend? I bet he was a damned sight more dubious about that than he was about any trip to Morrocco...

Yes he has been informed that you might be gracing us with your presence. He even said that he was going to email you today, I kid you not.

He'll need to e-mail at the work address then, if he has it, as my own e-mail is down pending certain idle gits to fix the networking problem...

He can get my work e-mail from Mina if he hasn't got it, or can't work it out. E-mailing government departments isn't exactly rocket science once you know what youe doing...or I could send it to him by text, actually...

If not, you could email me and then I can give him your email.

I have texted the boy hisself (I hope...).

Nought wrong with a bit of cloak and dagger, you know, but I'm sure you can appreciate why I don't want to go splashing my work e-mail up on here...smiley - winkeye
