Hello Leopardskynn, congratulations on 2 counts:
1) getting engaged -- I'm a firm believer in good ol'fashioned
2) reaching the top of my "must remember to..." list on only the 2nd Jan! I have to say you've achieved the latter by a devious route though; De Myelin Nation via Bookworms (sounds like a fairly unpleasant tropical disease to me)
Yes, it's 7am here in medieval France & I'm trying frantically to go through the backlog of convos that have built up since joining hootoo on Nov5th. I knew I remembered your name from somewhere......
ENID BLYTON!!!
A fellow fan, Gosh, that calls for another ginger beer, or possibly a steaming hot cup of cocoa (closest we're going to get to a cocoa smiley I reckon!)
Just whizzed through your journal bit, spotted where you mention looking at bales of straw in your attempts to find el cheapo housing. If you're still into investigating that sort of thing, you may not be aware of the fact that around where we live is some of the cheapest & most charming property in France, available at stupid prices if you don't mind roughing it a bit while you do it up. Yes, the old "buy a barn in France" bit; living here with a French guy who knows most of the pitfalls & bargains, we'd be ideally placed if you want to find out more (how about exchanging property mags from this end for trashy women's mags from that end?)
Anyway, I'm a "hairy jumper of a certain age" too; even looked after organic sheep, bloody things, if I ever did eat meat I'd start with lamb; as you may gather I'm not the most soppy veggie on earth!
My partner, Chan-Mick le Frog, commonly known as (well, he is pretty
!) would probably at this stage like me to point out that "he's NOT a hippie, he's a PUNK with long hair"; the difference is apparently vital; ah the rebellion of youth, bless 'em!
He bumped into Sho the other day & remarked how I'd probably get on well, turns out she's on your friends list! (If you want to add me, I'd be delighted, mine is way too long 'cos I see it as such a handy way of getting hold of people!
If all this wittering hasn't put you off, do drop by & admire my brand new alien (I know everyone says it, but he really is the most beautiful one you've ever seen! You should see his little tiny hooves.)
Terri &
Yoda

Hi Terri!
Thanks for your congratulations... ?
Now my honey and I just need to decide on a date....(not easy for a Libran girl like me... )
I never knew that the smiley existed! Hoorah!
So whereabouts in France do you live? Some friends of mine have recently bought a barn and a hectare of land over in Dordogne which they are planning on doing up - they're giving up their jobs here and moving over there nexst month. I must admit to some jealousy!
I'd love to find out more about living in France, and buying property Terri! What sort of trashy magazines are you after?
Well of course there's a difference between hippies and punks with long hair....but only the punks seem to know them
I've put you on my friends list now too...
And my, what a beautiful you have...

Hi Terri!
I gave my email details to Moose who was supposed to be passing them onto you somehow...
Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you!

Hello, Leo!
Had a few technoprobs here, trying to get on to the broadband bit, hopefully sorted now, so I will try & get e-mails together tomorrow.
Got one "immobilier" (estate agent) mag through the door this week, haven't been out of the house for days (bloody flu thing) to find out more, but will do so ASAP.
We've been glad of the hairy jumpers here the past few days (yes, even punks wear them when they're shivering!!!)
This part of France is not geared up for this sort of thing at all! We're lucky, got an ancient, ugly, noisy but cheap to run & very efficient gas fire called Arthur Martin (yes, really!!)
anyone?
(just re-read "The mountain of Adventure", my all-time favourite, what's yours?)
Terri
