Hi Fynn,

Do you think you could cobble together an article on Chinese medicine for Holistic Health? Nothing too long - just an outline. I'd really appreciate it. ... Please? (is there a smiley for 'grovel'?

smiley - cheers

I'll have to get my thinking cap on then! You just want a basic outline?
TCM is confusing at the best of times....One of my teachers once said about it: it's complex in it's simplicity, and simple in it's complexity......... so maybe writing an article about it would help clear the mists away from my own foggy brain...

OK, I'll have a think about the best way to go about this.

No-one has ever asked me to write an article before...the pressure!!
*panic*

Hi Maggy

this article on Chinese medicine - well, I haven't written an article before, but I'm more than happy to have a go. I should write it on 360 rather than h2g2 then yes? Should I go to the 360 alternative health bit and post it there? Not sure how I go about it all to be honest - if you could give me a shove in the right direction, then I'll get started!

Fynn

Phew...back and over the first panics!

I've actually got my own desk for the first time in a year! smiley - bubbly

Now, your article...probably the best thing is just to write it from your space as usual - but write it in the 360 skin - and then submit it to the 360 community and I'll link to it from HH. OR you can simply write it as an article on your space and alert me to it and I'll just link from HH.

Whichever is simplest.

I think people would just like to know what it is all about - does Chinese medicine treat symptoms or is it holistic? How does it differ from homeopathy etc?

Thanks mate!

Hi Maggy.

just got back from a camping holiday, so I have a bit of catching up to do!

ok, going to display my naivete.....what does HH mean? smiley - erm...

"Now, your article...probably the best thing is just to write it from your space as usual - but write it in the 360 skin - and then submit it to the 360 community and I'll link to it from HH. OR you can simply write it as an article on your space and alert me

I will write that article.....I've been thinking about it, and it seems to me that its difficult to put a whole system of medicine into a nutshell!
I've always thought that Chinese medicine is sooooo complicated, but also essentially simple - once you've grasped the basic principles...which involves having a working understanding of Taoist thinking. I'm not an expert on TCM by any stretch of the imagination, but I *think* I have a working understanding of it now (after several years of baning my head against the proverbial birck wall).
So, I'll have to get my brain in gear and write the principles down for you. A diagram would really help, but that's not possible on DNA no?

Welcome back!!! We missed you! Did you have a great time?

HH just means the Holistic Health strand..

Diagrams - well, if you can scan them and email them we can get them up. I won't say 'no probs' but I know it can be done.

Marietta has posted an article on Chinese Medicine from TVE on A821756 so it would be great to get a more positive view (without Tiger penises!)

Aw, thanks Maggy!

Had a lovely time camping down in Devon, then off to a hippy type festival near Glastonbury. Nice. smiley - biggrin

Well I'll get to work finding a suitable diagram - its just a pentagram with the 5 elements on it. Would I be able to use a diagram that I found online (if I asked permission of course)?

I've just posted to that TCM conversation - thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

As long as you've got permission you can post someone else's diagram. You just have to say where it originated from and that they said ok!

I had a week in Stroud - for a summer school but it was nice to be in the area anyway.

Went home via Wells and bought the most wonderful wooden dragon at the market outside the cathedral. He's magic!
