Yay! I was just curious really. I know I'm not really a proper old-timer, but hootoo certainly seems to be populated by a whole bunch of folks I haven't seen. How's everything been holding up?

We've all been holding up fine. 
There are more sites that run like h2g2 now, including one called the <./>Hub</.> that holds all the technical info for running a DNA site.
We've got volunteers illustrating the guide as well as writing it as well, so not much for staff to do but twiddle our fingers these days.
