I don't know what power you are ascribing to AR, but your entry contravenes too many h2g2 issues to make it 'past unbelieving site Scouts.' You may find this sad, but it is true. It is not standing up to analysis, and you don't seem willing to acknowledge even the most obvious of problems with it.
It's not even important in what context you mean 'unbelieving'.
It's also not important that you have received some sort of affirmation by one 'Atheist Theologian Sub Editor'. I would not even trust someone on this site to guess my weight, much less take that sort of compliments as any sort of 'truth'. I have known many self-proclaimed atheists, but never one so weak in their position as to cede such a claim.
You cannot make of the h2g2 site a Christian bully-pulpit.
Good luck with future entries. Your defensiveness is dooming this one.
PS: Frankly, I'm so oversall disappointed in the site that I don't expect to be hanging around much longer, so don't fret too much about me.
PPS: The Vishnu crack was not meant in a mean fashion. It was just to point out that our Christian God is not the only accepted god on the planet. Just like theology is the study of any god or religion.
May our Christian God give you patience and love.

dear fords towel. the sub ed in question is me. all i said was that theology, the academic study, is considered, by oxford, to be the study of christianity, primarily. other religions come into it, but only as ancilliaries. thats all i agreed with. i am too jaded with arguments about god to make any further comment on the entry.

Thank you for the clarification. TS has made no mention of the 'primarily' aspect of your agreement. In this way, if true, he appears to have played you false.
I suppose that I should not have been surprised if Oxford had taken the stricter position, if they had. It's a good thing for many Christians that they did not restrict it further.
I understand your being jaded. I find that arguments about religion are generally futile or even counter-productive. My personal view would include a being a lot more flexibile than the people with which I find myself having these discussions.
Have a great week, and thank you for the note.
Key: Complain about this post
