... and welcome to h2g2. My name is Solnushka and I am one of the volunteer ACEs, which basically means that I flit around greeting new researchers like yourself, spelling really badly in the process and helping out wherever I can.

So, if you have any questions, please do hit the reply button below and ask away. Go on, you know you want to...

Anyway, here are some links, which you are at perfect liberty to ignore, of course...

The welcome page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome

The smiley page (actually you can go there by clicking on any smiley such as this one smiley - smiley ) : http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smiley

Ask h2g2, where you can ask anything except 'What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?':
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Askh2g2

The h2g2 newspaper, The Post, which also has pages of usful links, including one to all sorts of clubs, gangs, societies and cliques you can join here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U54963

Hope you enjoy yourself here. See you around, if not before!

Well, I don't think I should be asking you, but what do you think about my first entry and got any tips for future ones?
I forgot the number of it but its entitled "Videogames".

'Course you can ask me smiley - smiley . As long as you remember that I'm just another researcher, and one whose writing habits closely resemble that of the late Mr Adams in terms of prolificality (prolificness?? Deary me)...

Read it and liked it. You write well, I think (oh come on, you knew that smiley - winkeye ). Nice overveiw of the topic too, and I particularly liked your intro. Don't take my word for it: the next step to world fame is sending it to peer reveiw, where you submit your entry, get some feedback and hopefully get picked for the Edited Guide. You can find out all about that by clicking on the banner at the top of the page and following the instructions.

A word of advice though: as it says on the page, the entry should be entirely finished from your point of veiw, so before you submit it, it's worth proof-reading it for any typos. I tend to miss those, cos as you can see, I am terrible at spelling and related skills, but you'll make the reveiwers very very happy smiley - smiley

I'm also going to buzz you a link to the GuideML clinic, which should be helpful if you decide to put this entry or any future entries into the *looks a bit cross-eyed, technical talk not being her thing* web programming language we use here. If you need help with that, post a question to that page and someone will be in touch. It's not compuylsary to use it though, so don't panic!

This is getting a bit long, isn't it? Sorry. Next entry? Oooooh, there is so much that hasn't been written. There is some advice about contributing under the 'contribute' button above, but basically, choose your hobby horse andf get stuck in!

Here's the link to the GuideML Clinic, but like I say, you don't have to use it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-Clinic

Thanx! If the rest is only half as helpful as the volunteers, then the h2g2's future is looking very bright and shiny!!
