Hi there, I don't think we've run across each other much, but I noticed that in a conversation you had with The Shee (U185837) a while ago that you used to be interested in CB...

We're now thinking about putting together a university project on radios, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in putting together an entry on CB radio?

Just for info, we've already a couple of entries underway...

A674570
A719390
and
A694479 (which needs breaking up into smaller entries)

Fancy a University Field Researcher Badge on your page?

Hi Whisky, thanks for dropping by! smiley - smiley

I`m afraid my interest in CB died years ago, at the time it was made legal. Since then I haven`t had any equipment, and haven`t kept abreast of any developments at all.
Once the powers that be decided that FM was the only mode allowable on 27megs, most of the people I knew in the UK who had operated,(highly illegally) on SSB, gave up in disgust. I understand there is still a worldwide network of operators that use 27 megs side-band, but I`ve no idea how many are in the UK. It`s a risky business, and the penalties, if caught, are substantial, so I`m led to believe.

So, as you can see, I`m not really in a position to write with any authority on CB as it is today.
The best I could do would be to "reminisce" about the old days of illegal operation, and whether that would be quite the thing to do on h2g2 is probably questionable smiley - smiley

Thanks for asking though!!
