YO! Managed to see that pic JEllen!!! "Nice chair: shame about the snow" Yoda says.
That's about the maximum we get here, but it usually melts the next day & everybody talks nonstop about this amazing thing "As tu régard la neige hier soir??? merde pootan!" for about the next 6 months until it's time for the heatwave to begin!

It really is a superb collection, btw. Very idiosyncratic. There are things like stone church doors and stained glass windows built into the fabric of the building. There's exquisite Chinese and Islamic pottery, Egyptian, Roman and Greek arefacts, Jacobean furniture and tapestries, Armour, Rodin sculpture, Lots of Degas (although I've gone off Degas), some exquisite paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder...etc. My big discovery today was an amazingly brave nightime painting by Whistler.
Plus there's an amazing view out of the windows into the woods. It's like you're in the middle of a forest.
And smack bang in urban Glasgow!

Nice picture! Reminds me of my car on Monday...both first thing in the morning, and when I came out of a Children's Panel at lunchtime.

Had to take a teenaer into care. She didn't like it one bit. Her parents didn't seem bothered one way or the other, though.

I had to volunteer for care when I was 15. It took a knife fight to get the attention of social services though. You couldn't see me for dust.
Lovely picture Ellen I'd love a balcony like that, in better weather. I've got an amazing view though I have to lean out of the window to get the best of it.
Putain d'merdahhhhhhhh! I remember living with French students for a year, they were great fun - It was that and "ololo" every 5 minutes.

Terri, fortunately it hasn't been all that cold here this winter. I've only needed a heavy coat six or seven times- otherwise, my corduroy jacket over a fleece pullover has been sufficient. It's around -3°C out now, but we keep the thermostat set to around 19°C in the house when we're home, so it's nice and cozy. But I have to say I'd much rather cold weather to extremely warm and humid- it's easier to add layers or warmer socks than to try to cool off when it's scorching hot and soupy.

Love the snow photos! That looks like a typical snowfall here. I didn't take any pictures this year- I should have.

I would not be too happy with Memphis summer. Though you could probably handle our summers. I don't like really bitter cold, but I survive- and I actually do like winters here, overall.

The short days doesn't depress me, fortunately, but I'm known to get sleepy right after the sun sets. It's helped since I moved here and have lots of windows, so I get plenty of light during the days. At my old place, I had only one window, and I slept a lot more during winter.

Here in winter, daylight is 9.00 to 3.45. ish.

Och, that's really short. I think we start getting daylight around 7:30 ish during winter, and Friday I think it was already getting light when I got off the train at 6:30. For the most part, it was just getting dusky-ish when I got home around 4:30 most days. You get a good 2-3 hours less light than we do. Poor you.

I guess the plus side is the long summer evenings, sipping something cold and alcoholic in the garden.
Having said that - last year it pished down the whole summer.

It's too hot here in the summer to sit outside anywhere. Although it doesn't usually pish down the whole time. Can't have everything, I guess.
