The Other Boleyn Girl
Ellen Started conversation Mar 3, 2008
Excellent movie. A worthy prequel of sorts to "Elizabeth." I had no idea until now that Anne Boleyn had a sister who also was Henry's mistress. Excellent performances all round, but especially Natalie Portman as Anne.

From what I can remember she has at least one son to Henry. You can imagine why he was so galled at only have a mere 'daughter' with Anne.

I read the reviews in detail; i never see the films! She seems to be a bit of a dark horse but Scarlett seeems to have portrayed her well.
Interesting subject, certainly....

I was incensed that most of the critics dismissed the film as a "bodice ripper." It makes me wonder whether they even bothered to see the movie, or just based their reviews on the previews.

Hi MV!
I've been trying to find more information about actor Jim Sturgess (sp?) who plays George Boleyn.
I fully intend to get ahold of that book and read it.

The Other Boleyn Girl is on my list, I saw "The Bucket List" last week, if you like good stories with fine actors, can't go wrong with that (I've even stuck a related Entry into PR but don't read it before you see the film!)

As much as The Other Boleyn Girl interests me, I think I'll probably avoid it. The Tudor period is one of my special interests - I'd be disturbed by any historical inaccuracies in it, and there are bound to be some.
That being said, I'm glad it's well-acted and well-made...

The Henry Tudor casting was interesting, given the role he's best known for:

Eric Bana (apart from being mentioned quite often in the thread) is known to me only from "Troy".
I'd like to go and see this film, too (the Boleyn one), after hearing an interview with the two leading ladies on the radio. They really put a lot of work into their characters.
Ellen's appreciation is as good a recommendation as any newspaper review!
