an unseen escape by Dolly Parton...that must be rarity!?

Maybe we read two different Wiki articles? The "Emmylou Harris" entry seems accurate enough: the "Trio" album was released in 1987. The single was originally recorded in 1981, but when it was released, Emmylou had to sing all three parts (Ronstadt and Parton's record labels didn't want their vocals on the single).
JEllen, don't you have some Enya CDs? I remember you used to like her. Her stuff always put me right to sleep!

Maybe it's something I should correct on W***pedia. For all it's knocked, its great virtue is that mistakes can be corrected easily...unlike other sites I could name.
Dolly Parton - I regard her public persona as unfortunate. She's a fine singer! (Also - I discovered recently that she is a friend of a UKanian musician who one woud have thought unlikely...only I can't remember offhand who it is)
Emmylou Harris, though...her voice has thickened and softened wonderfully over the years. She now sounds like a fine chateau bottling.

sorry Edward, I am not much of country fan. I am too Dutch and we have "paling pop" (eel pop) from Volendam.

I'm not really a Country fan myself (or a Western fan) - not to the extent of seeking out C&W specifically...but across any genre, some singers are simply *good*!

I remember now. She's a close friend of Yusuf Islam. He was going to see her when he was turned back by US Immigration.

Oh! The Afro-Celts are good!
I could send you some Najma Akhtar - the best singer I've ever heard live. Check out samples, especially 'Dil Laga Ya Tha': http://www.amazon.com/Qareeb-Najma/dp/B000000E2H/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/105-7282336-9799613?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1184670862&sr=8-2

Ah, Yusuf Islam. What a crock that deportation fiasco was. "Wrong spelling" my eye- back then (and to some degree, even still) the TSA was actively bouncing anyone with an Arabic name.
Of course, he falls into that folkie singer-songwriter genre that I don't much care for... but he seems like an all-around OK fella.
I've heard a band called Afro Celt Something-Or-Other, but they were a bit too "techno" for my tastes. Any other similar acts with a less dance-y style?

I don't have the Real Player, either, but there's a plugin called "Foxy Tunes" that makes it work in Firefox: http://www.foxytunes.com/
Or there's a Firefox extension called "IE Tab" that switches the rendering engine to IE from within Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419. (I need this to access Netflix's "View Now" movies.)
And now I should check out some of those tracks on the album Edward linked to...

You could try the RealPlayer link on amazon.co.uk:

As for Yusuf Islam...I'm a fairly recent fan. I listen to his 'Tea for the Tillerman' from time to time:

Bugger! My favourite independent record/book chain has gone bust!

They were great for inexpensive retro-buying and had the finest display of Trojan reggae compilations I've ever seen.

abbi normal "Putting on the Ritz" with Dr Frankenstein Posted Jul 21, 2007
Jellen I hope the bad dreams get better.
I have had medications cause nightmares,it is possible it will stop, it does in time with some medications.
Certainly the loss of family members and depression also has caused them. The combination of losses and changes are certainly enough but should ease. Micio was a worry also.
I personally would take it as a good sign that you get rid of the scary people! With your own voice even That is powerful
I also think music ,slowing down, a relaxation tape before sleeping is an option. Even deep relaxation without sleep can do wonders. When I have a string of bad dreams I start to dislike or fear bedtime and I use relaxation techniques more. Breathing in a stressful way when awake can affect the same when sleeping. If you practice breathing for relaxation it will often carry through to sleep time.
Laughter helps me before bed.
Good Luck.

Me, too, JEllen!
Edward- will check out Najma (sp?). What better recommendation could I expect than that one you gave?
Pheloxi- I had no idea if Foxy Tunes was any good- I've never had any problem playing Real Player using Firefox, using the standard Real Player plugin, so I hadn't actually tried it. *shrug* Sorry if the suggestion was a "bad" one.

Speaking of C&W... I'm not a fan myself, really, other than Johnny Cash and some stuff by the Carter Family. Though K swears the Mekons are country, and I'm a bit of a fan of theirs.
